i had the same problem. is it keeping an idle at all whenever you come to a stop?
my problem turned out to be a rod bearing and my motor was basically shot.
hopefully your oil is just low.

I have a friend who just had this happen to a H22'd accord he bought.
Guy at a local shop said it was a spun rod bearing.

Re: loud clicking from engine (Mark D. Surface)
if its a rod bearing, and your still driving it, and running the motor, your basically fucked, because all its doing is destroying it even worse, because all its doin is sendin little pieces of metal everywhere in your motor and with it running, its just causing the little metal shards to scratch the hell out of your block and head.
and then this is what you'll find:

I had that happening for me for a while. Ended up being a rod knocking. Got so bad, that when I was driving my motor just gave out .
When I gave it more gas, the louder and quicker it would sound.

Re: (kdm3nac3)
THe exhaust manifold is on the front of these motors. A bad exhaust port gasket can make a tapping sound very similar to a rocker, many have been fooled before.
Rods dont make a clicking noise, they make a hollow, low knock that is noticeable on startup and idle and disappears slightly when the motor has load on it, and is more pronounced when coming back down from revs.
Take your valve cover off and look. "click click click" can mean a number of things.

Your have a spun bearing. Don't know if it's a rod or main bearing but you have a spun bearing.

Re: loud clicking from engine (Brian Hinson)
I had the same thing in my d series. I seafoamed changed the oil did a valve adjustment changed the plugs and timed it and it made a lot less noise but i can still hear it at high rpms. I'm thinking my cat may be done for cause it sounds more like marbles. Just change your oil and you should be fine.

Re: loud clicking from engine (CRISIS)
Marbles are a spun main bearing. Start looking for a new motor if you hear them, it will start to get worse and worse and then it will just quit.
If its just a tick do a valve lash and that should do the job. If its still there something is probally bent like a valve just slightly, this will also get worse over time.
