Loose shifter
Hey I just got another civic, had a 98 EK before, sold it and picked up a 99 EK, the shifter is loose and I was just trying to figure out how to tighten it up, If i get a short shifter will it tighten up, I might be wrong but I think its that one bushing that is worn out isnt it? Help! Thanks.

Re: Loose shifter (Chris Cann)
do not get a short shifter, your syncros will thankyou for it.
get an energy suspension urethane shifter bushing kit. if infact the bushings are the issue.

Re: Loose shifter (Chris Cann)
Buy a polyurethane bushing kit, change both rod bushings and see how it is.
A bushing kit is cheap, like 20 bucks.

A short shifter doesn't wear out your syncros prematurely - it's simply whether the driver can shift well enough or not.

Re: Loose shifter (Syndacate)
agreed but the vast majority of people will wear out hte syncros faster with the short shifter.
i am actually switching out my urethanes, and my short shifter for a stock bend and a set of solid mounts (eventually goin with the long or a g force with a strain gage he hee)
