looking at a rebuild or swap with taxes
After having random engine issure for the whole 2 years ive had the car... this tax season its time to so something about it... here are my 2 options
1. theres a guy localy that has a fresh rebuilt d16z6 for 800. mostly oem honda parts except for bolts, bearing, head studs, valve springs and a crowler stage 1 cam.... get that and turbo parts... i happen to have a Saab 900 turbo laying around that should work nicely
2. order this HMO - b16a swap kit. though i do have a few questions about that... is there anything else i will need to go with that? keep in mind my cars currently an auto, but i do have the 99% of the parts to do the auto-manual conversion for a d series.

Re: looking at a rebuild or swap with taxes
with a hard budget of 3500$ i would go with a COMEPLETE GSR changeover http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...age&item=30009 you can look around on craigs for a LSD tranny if you wanna go that route also. I know a few people that have bought GSR's off HMO and they ran freaking BEAUTIFULLY and they where so clean it was insane that it even had 35k miles on it.

Re: looking at a rebuild or swap with taxes
Also since i was already on Craigslist i did the honors of finding a b16 http://bgky.craigslist.org/pts/3527520299.html around 2 hrs from you, maybe he will meet you half way and you can low ball him. Not a GSR but its a complete b16a, personally i would stick with the GSR though.

If you are worried about a GSR being a little too much then just go with a b18 and then save a little more and turbo it later on.

Nothing wrong with a b16...I love them!
Reliable and makes decent numbers.
I think its an engine that people love to pick on because it doenst have the same hp than a gsr.
To me thats bs because a fast car isnt about the engine..... its the driver.
Do whats in your budget to do.

Re: looking at a rebuild or swap with taxes
I have a grudge about B16's. unless theyre boosted they slow as hell. they make more noise then power. at the end of the day its still a 1.6L. the trans is geared lower for the lack of torque and theyre barely faster then a D16Y8 and have an extra cam.
My personal preference is more torque for street driven cars and more HP for track cars.
But to each their own.
Why not just rebuild you engine in your ride now for a few hundred bucks. then boost it.
Ditch the Saab turbo for a garrett T3 super 60 and youll be at 280 to the wheels.
you can do a reliable kit for 2 grand, add pump, injectors, gauges, clutch and tune and your at your 3500 budget.

Re: looking at a rebuild or swap with taxes
TBH HMO is MUCH more of a rep'd site. I've never even heard of JSH, just put your money towards HMO it might be more but at least you KNOW you are getting a good engine. It's like buying a water pump, you can get a cheap one on ebay or get a REAL OEM one at your local dealership. Doing a swap isn't cheap in any way shape or form.

Theres a good arguement but.....
Change out the B16 tranny for an ITR/LSD
Build the head a little with some CTR cams and itr valve train and the engine is a beast for the track!
You dont need HP to be fast.

If you're on a budget, throw some vitaras and rods in the D16. Since you're looking to auto-x the car, I'd say go with a T3 50/60 trim, you'll be able to make 250whp easily. If you want more power get a T3/T4 50 trim and you'll be golden to 350whp
My D16 at 310whp made more torque than my friend's 360whp B16. Same dyno, same tuner.
