Looking for air temperatur sensor on my civic 96 ex
I am having hesitation on acceleration on my Civic. I was told to verify my Air Temperature Sensor. Now, that I purchasea sensor tester, I cant seem to find the sensor on my Civic ex 96. I see a component that has wires connected to it. It is located before the throttle body inserted in the black 4-5 inch tube.
Thanks for your time. When my notebook crashed I lost my helms book pdf.
Regards.

Re: Looking for air temperatur sensor on my civic 96 ex (CivicEX96)
What? I just bought this car. You mean to say this surge is normal.
When I press my gas at a certain point it peaks. Then, if I press gas some more it goes nowhere. Now if I keep my gas pedal pressed, then all of the sudden I get a surge of power. You telling me this is normal? You got to be kidding. This is an intermittent issue. If it were normal, I would thing every time I press my gas pedal, this would occur all the time. Doesnt make sense to me. Regardless, I want to test the sensor. Anyone know where this sensor is located?

Re: Looking for air temperatur sensor on my civic 96 ex (CivicEX96)
Thank you for verifying for me.
I purchased the Actron Sensor Tester from Ebay for 35.00. This retails for $80. I read most of the book. According to what I have read, I have what is called; hesitation, stumbling, surging, rough idle, with poor fuel economy. I would say I qualify for all these symptoms especially for the rough idle and stumbling. At times, rarely, my engine dies while sitting at a stop light. Then again, many times my idle is perfect...go figure. I have 80k miles on the vehicle.
Thus far, thanks for 'rmcdaniels' help, I located the air temperature sensor. However, I read that any sensor that have less than optimal specifications could be the culprit to my vehicle problems. The author mentions to test all sensors but specially concentrate on - Throttle positioning sensor, air temperature sensor, egr valve and 02 sensors. I know there are a few sensors to verify, but guess what, I will learn more about my car and sensors. If you want to help, please locate the other sensors. I give you my word I will keep you up to date. Furthermore, I will document everything I have done like I did replacing my timing belt and water pump.
Thanks all
