Default Limp mode [causes]

I have a '93 civic hatch [b16a2 mtr]

It is in Limp Mode. I know few sensors are not working, ECU wiring is ... horrible, somethings are cut.

So yeah, it is stuck at 3000 RPMS [any gear, neutral, reverse].

Can sensors cause Limp Mode?
Can Distributor cause Limp Mode?
Can ... bad ECU cause Limp Mode?

ECU has like ... 3 or 4 wires that are cut...

I used this website to try and reconnect them http://technet.ff-squad.com/wiring.obd1.htm

but none of the colors match

Yes all of the above, can cause limp mode (not sure of the dizzy). but if some of the ecu wires are cut then the ecu thinks there not there and reverts to running off the few that it uses in limp mode (if they havnt been cut)

It's VTEC.

But the thing is --- this is started day after hurricane hit us [ about a month ago or so ]. And the ECU's cables been ... cut since I got the car.

Any idea which sensor would cause the limp mode? And is there a site somewhere where it shows where all the sensors are?

Your car will go into limp mode when the computer doesn't have the bare essentials the run the motor. These primary essentials are CKP, MAP, and TPS. It sounds like you already know you need to fix some wiring, do that and then hit up h-tech for the lingering problems.

Sometimes during a swap, you need to cut the factory wiring and replace that wire with something different. The wires that you see cut might be that way on purpose. Do some research on your swap. Did you have your problems before the storm? Did the car get submerged under water?

Car was fine before hurricane. And no, it didnt go underwater. But car at the time was not really water proof, if you know what i mean. So it got a little wet near ECU [although ECU dont look like its been damaged by water]. But I do have CEL and it throws 5 diff sensors --- im really hoping its the sensors. But, i dont even know where some are.

21 - VTEC spool solenoid valve
10 - intake air temperature sensor
4 - crank position sensor
3 - manifold absolute pressure sensor

Well the Crank Position Sensor could make it go into limp mode, but it seems to be a wiring problem somewhere.. maybe you could swap the cps and see what it does.

unplug your ecu connectors and look at them...i have seen moisture literally eat the pins on some connections. that would also cause your problem. if you see any corrosion, hopefully you can clean it up without breaking anything and your codes will be gone

Note about the limp mode.

Sometimes, after driving it ... you hear a BIG ... explosion like, sounding like your exsaust just shot out a potato. And then the car suddenly runs fine...

If I was you I would put another ECU in the car and see what it does, maybe try another chipped ecu, obd1 p72, or p30.

Did your distributor get wet?
