leaking oil after oil change
Heres the situation. I recently bought a used 96 civic hatchback with a stock y7 motor. after putting 3,000kms i decided to change the oil. I've never seen the car losing any oil at that time.
after the oil change i've noticed that i was leaking oil. i checked the oil pan gasket and retorqued all the bolts to spec and started it up again. this time i figured out that it was coming from the bottom of the belt housing being on the left side of the oil pan.
i've used AT-205 oil treatment after that and have not seen any good progression.
what seal is leaking? and is there a way of temporarily fixing the problem as i am buying a swap in the near future.
let me know guys

So you did an oil change and dropped the whole pan?
tighten the bolts from the middle out and in reverse.
check the oil drain bolt since the plastic washer may be worn out. I know I leak oil from there once in a while but then I'll just replace the washer and good to go

let me know guys </TD></TR></TABLE>If by belt housing and left side you mean by the timing belt it's gotta be leaking from the oil pump (no gasket here just HondaBond on the mating surfaces so this could mean a poor install) or very possibly the valve cover gasket but I doubt that since it would have a long way to travel to leak from the bottom. Between the engine and tranny (Inspection cover area) would be the rear main seal as stated.

Re: leaking oil after oil change (B20badboy)
These are the common oil leak locations:
Valve cover gasket.... look at it, you could see it leaking.
Oil drain plug and oil filter.... plug left loose or filter loose or double gasket'd
Oil pan gasket.... seeps from around the pan gasket (duh)
Rear main Oil Seal.... usually see drips between trans and engine, near insp cover
Head Gasket... rare, but it can leak down the back of the block
Oil sender.... leaks from the sender, or sender threads
Cam & Crank Seals.... usually seen as drips of oil from behind timing belt cover.
The most likely cause is a cam seal. They are fairly common on higher milage cars. You will need to pull the t/b upper coner and look behind the cam pulley to see if it is leaking. If it is, it makes a nice little stream all the way down the front of the engine, and drips out the plastic timing cover. It is important to get this taken care of asap... you don't want to oil soak your timing belt or worse, have the seal blow out completely and pump your oil right out on the ground.

Re: leaking oil after oil change (HondaTechPro)
well this is what i diagnosed. when i warm up the engine, there is drips of black oil every couple seconds turns into a puddle. the t/b cover has some oil residue around it and near the motor mount. i was looking through my old work orders and could it be a bad 'right side output shaft seal'?
