im running that exact setup on my ej8. i have neuspeed race springs and kyb gr2's. i like it. it is a lil bouncy in the back because theres no weight back there, but besides that its a not bad for daily driving.

They are awesome from my personal experiences with them having owned a set on a 1992 hatch for about 4 years, and currently owning a set on my 1991 hatch.
They are a slight upgrade over stock, and are not intended to be paired up with overly stiff spring rates, or crazy slammed ride heights.
I'm not so sure Neuspeed race springs are the ideal springs for the GR-2s, but the sports would ride awesome. The Neuspeed race springs ride pretty low, and have stiff rates - I'd imagine the ride would be noticably bouncier than if you had the sport springs.

i agree. if you're going for the slammed look i wouldn't recommend them. i had eibach pro springs with gr2 and they are great and comfy for my eh2.

The KYBs have nothing to do with ride height in terms of lowering the car - that will depend on the SPRINGS that you pair them with.
If you get 2'' lowering springs, then I say the KYBs should be fine at that height provided the spring rates (how stiff/soft they are rated) are not ridiculously stiff.

anyone else concur?
I need new shocks bad, and my springs drop me about 2-2.25"
they're nearly stock spring rates, as I don't need anything overly stiff.
any other suggestions other than the kyb's? I could afford the koni yellows if I needed to, but I think they're overkill for what I really need on my car.

I'll concur with myself with evidence in pictures to support my claim. Here is a picture of my wife's old 1992 Si HB on KYB GR-2 struts paired with some OG APC coil-overs, and before anyone rips me for the APC this was the very first edition that was Skunkworks coil-overs in a different color beofre they bid to the lowest bidder and the quality sucked *** (APC that is):
Trust me that's more than 2'', and we drove that car on the same set of GR-2s for about 4 years before they started getting bouncy, and yet tnbhey never leaked or blew out whatsover even through shitty ATL roads and numerous auto-X events.
Oh and lastly yeah Koni Yellows are overkill for springs not much stiffer than stock - I know because I also run a set of Koni Yellows on my 92 hatch with 425F/550R spring rates, and for those who don't know that's retarded stiff! Koni Yellows are amzing for the price, but yes they are too much for stockish spring rates.

Re: (2coupes)
i drove my friends car around for a few months he had gr2's the ride was cool not to stiff. i have AGX on my hatch i prefer that stiff ride. if u prefer a more comfortable ride then get that set up its good.

It might ride like crap for any number of reasons including the stiff spring rates, the age of the struts, the ride height, etc. Trust me when paired with QUALITY springs without stiff rates the ride is nice.

Re: (2coupes)
In the end, what it comes down to is matching the spring rate to the shock. too stiff a spring with too loose a shock and you'll be bouncing all over the place. Too hard a shock with too soft a spring and after the first bump the car will feel unsettled... it will kill you on the small bumps and bottom out after a series of big bumps. Extremely short suspension travel will make you wish you kept it stock. matching quality components for the intended purpose is key...

Re: (B18C5-EH2)
hey b18c5-eh2, what would you consider a good shock to pair with neuspeed race springs, i love the springs but like you said, paired with the gr2s they are a little on the bouncy side.

Re: (ridin98civic)
I would got tokico illuminas for a drop of more than 2".
I'm sure b18c-eh2 will agree. Or maybe reccommend a similar shock. Possibly koni reds.
Neuspeed race are pretty low, I think 2" front and 2.25 in rear (maybe more)
I've heard nothing but good things about tokicos unless by user error. I've been in the market for a good suspension setup for over a year and haven't bought one. I've done lots of research and I'm stilll going with H&R race + tokico illuminas. I've heard good things.

Re: ($SD420$)
what settings are you running your AGX's? What kind of springs do you have on them? I was planning on getting AGX's but I dont want a ride thats stiffer than hell... damn this is confusing now lol

I'd say KYB AG-X adjustables - affordable and excellent. I also owned some of those on my old 1992 Si HB.

I'm not trying to be the other side of the coin, or to be argumentative, but I don't like Tokicos. I've never driven a car on Tokicos (blues or Illuminas) that didn't ride bouncy, and of course I understand that springs have everything to do with ride quality too, but even with basic coil-over sleeves or slightly stiff springs the Illuminas feel soft/bouncy. For less money you can get KYB AGX and IMO get a better damper that has a lifetime warranty.
