Re: Koni Reds Vs. KYB AGXs (Rspool)
Get the KYB. I installed them the other day and I give them a . You will like the adjustability of the AGX unlike the Reds which you cannot adjust. If you do purchase the KYB AGX, I recommend purchasing them through www.coximport.com. Great guys and they are running a deal where you purchase $100 or more you get $20 off and shipping is free.

Re: Koni Reds Vs. KYB AGXs (The G2 Racer)
I liked my AGX's till they blew the main seals on the rear shocks, spraying oil all over my wheels/car. When they say dont lower more than an inch, they mean that for a reason....

If you are considering KYB AGX shocks, keep in mind that these shock are garbage or useless if you are going lower than 1.75 inch drop or even used with coilovers.
KYB AGX cannot handle coilovers because of the stiffness of there spring rates or cars in which are droped 2.0, 2.5 inches or more. Some people are lucky and havent blown them at that height but others who have tried blow the shock dead or the shock is too soft at any setting, to me I say...eww !!!
if your going with a drop of 1.75 then KYB AGX gets a but go lower than that
Your best and most reliable choice is either Koni Red or Tokico Illumina, these two can handle drops of around 2.0 inches, they are adjustable, I know because one of my friends who has his teg slammed 2.5 front and rear, has Koni Reds on his ride and he is ride is a little bumpy but other than that quite smooth.

Which should I get? Why?
Reds are basically an OEM replacement with increased compression and rebound rates. Most ppl want a good, soft, vibration-free ride. That's what the Reds provide.
AGX's will give you a stiff ride, however they can be adjusted without taking the struts off your car, unlike the Reds.
So, the AGX's would probably be the best for you. All depends on if you want a soft, smooth ride , where you can set 'n' forget 'em, or you prefer a stiff ride and want to fiddle around with little plastic adjusters, trying to make them feel right...

If you look on the Koni website you should be able to find instructions on how to adjust them. I have them and they give a pretty comfortable ride...I wish I set them a little stiffer though...ah well!

I've got my car pretty slammed on the coil voers so won't Reds be better then?
AGX's. In the spring im gunna get some GC's or Skunk2 coilovers and im gunna
use my agx's.

The thing I like about the Tokico Illumina's is you can get a complete, matching coil-over setup from them for less than 800 bones; no messing around, you know? Unfortunately, for this guy, he already has the coil-over springs and I doubt if he wants to buy another set.

So should I go with the reds?
With the Reds, you are going to be stuck with whatever setting you use during installation, unless you feel like pulling your struts off and fiddling around with them. I know I wouldn't go to all that trouble. I'd crank them out a half turn in the front, a full turn in the rear and cross my fingers. Remember, they are designed as an OEM replacement. Koni Yellows are the performance model.
With the AGX's, all you have to do is turn a ****. You'll probably end up setting the rear struts at '2' and the front ones at '2' or '3' and leaving them there. Otherwise, you'll be pissing blood. These ARE designed as a performance strut.
KYB doesn't share the same reputation as Koni or Bilstein, so that's a crap shoot, but I know KYB's are V popular with the off-road crowd around here, so how bad can they be? I dunno, but the 4x4 crowd swears by them.
Anyway, your call, bro. At least you have a little info to go on now.

Thanks BDC. I'm going to look into Bilstein a bit know. Kinda forgot about them but I have a feeling they are pricey.

The 'fly in the ointment' is your coils-overs. You're not supposed to use HD's with lowering springs. You'll need Bilstein Sport shocks. They have very similar valving to the Bilstein HD shocks, but have shortened shafts for use in lowered applications. They cost the same, but I don't know which one[s] your car would need. This would be what YOU need to check, or maybe someone else knows...
