Knocking from tranny
ok first i have searched and no related problems were found...
First
off this is not a tick,whirl,grind,swoosh....etc noise. This is a REALLY loud knocking noise...kind of like something is slapping the case on the inside of tranny. Not an axle.
1) doesnt do it in neutral or in gear when the car is not moving
2) cant hear it until your going apprx. 20 mph
3) sounds quickens when speed increases
4) car still shifts fine with no grinds into every gear(this is very puzzling considering the severity of the noise)
need all input necessary....wont be able to take tranny off for about another week....
all input is greatly appreciated!

Re: Knocking from tranny (MikeW)
I think your problem isn't in the trans. It sounds like you have a problem with your drive shaft and or suspension parts. How Do you know its not in the drive shaft? I have had to replace a re man drive shaft several times until I got one that worked. Check all your ball joints and tie rods for play. Make sure that the lug nuts a tight. Last but not least check all the bushings on the car you might have a bad one. To check ball joints and tie rods grab the wheel and push it left to right and up and down. if you see any play start replacing the parts good luck
Edit: Check your tires for damage>>>broken belts uneven tread wear will all cause noise at speed
