Default Keyless entry wiring

I have a stock keyless entry system for a 96 civic EX. When I lock and unlock the doors the horn beeps.. I was wondering if there is anyway I can hook up the lights to blink also?

Find the wire that is going to your horn and wire it to corner light wire.

then evertime he honks his horn, his corner lights will go on. (no big deal really, but im sure there is a proper way to do it)

i bet the horn is wired to the keyless transmitter (or the relay), and you probably want to bring the lights in with that.

let me know if you get it working right. i want my lights to flash with no horn when i unlock my doors.

also, if you hold the option and lock buttons down for 2 seconds, it wont beep when you unlock it (i bet you knew that already though).

Ricey's on the right track. First, you'll need to find the output from the keyless brain that controls the horn honk. Then, you'll tap off of that output to trigger a relay that will send power to the parking light circuit. Just be sure to diode isolate where you tapped into the horn honk output, otherwise, as jwn7 stated, the ligts will come on whenever you blow the horn...

yeah that sounds right.

so if i wanted to get rid of the horn honk, and replace it with blinking corners, i would just have to go in there and switch the wire to the horn with a wire from the parking lights right?

****, thanks for clearing that up for me guys, I suck at getting my ideas across! Hell, I might go wire up the lights to my horn just to be funny now!

Thanks, I figured I would do it that way. On the 96-98 civic the back of the radio has two sets of harness's running out the back.... Any idea as to which harness has the horn and any ideas which is the corner lights. If not Ill go test all the wires whis weekend and post the results. Ohh and i knew about the horn and the option button... I dont like the horn but right now its the only way I can tell the doors locked, I want the lights so I can tell without scaring everyone around my car....

Yea, that would be great, thanks alot.. It would save me a ton of time with the tester light... last time I had to use it in a cramped space I put it through my finger and it was off to the emergency room... lol ouch..

Okey the harness you want is the more square harness on the passengers side of the car (away from the DIN cord and more twoards the outside of the radio). I'm having a helluva time finding the diagram for that plug though. Ill keep looking and let you know.

EDIT: As best I can tell you need either to tap into the red/green or the red/black wire for the parking/corner lights depending on wether you plan to tap before the under dash relay harness. And it looks like a gray wire is your horn output wire. Let me know if any of this is right or I need to take another look ( I kinda suck at wiring diagrams)

on the 96-98 civics the horn wire located on the radio is grey (no stripe)
Ive tried doing this in the past...basic outcome is it doesnt work
Ive tired directly wiring it and Ive tried using a spdt relay...Ive tried linking through fuses and Ive tried making all new connections as well as simply connecting the lights to the horn itself (i dont care i never use the horn anyways)

NO WORKIE FOR ME

If by some way of magic, you get it to work, tell me how you did it...I hate the horn but Id like some kind of signal other than intensly listening to the lock's sound

that sucks... it doesnt work? seems like it should.. instead of power going to your horn you send it to your corner lights... hmm... ill give it a whirl this weekend at let you guys know the results... Thanks alot...

well the horn is a neg signal and the lights are pos
so a spdt relay should make it work...but it doesnt

ahh gotcha... what about the power to the door locks them selves.. positive or negative. could we just tap into the wire going to the door locks and use the power from that and feed it to the corner lights. its the same concept as the horn.

the under hood fuse for the locks is constant power...so the lights would always be on
