K24 w/K20 head question

K24 w/K20 head question
I'm a newbie here but I'm doing a K swap in a 99 si .I have a K 24 engine from a 05' CRv and I got a RSX head from a base model automatic .I have two simple questions here 1st would I have needed a RSX- s head or can I use the same base model head?And would I have to change the cams in the head since it was an automatic?Please if anyone can give me advice it would be greatly appreciated.thanks

Don't bother swapping that base RSX head onto that block. The Type-S head is the awesome one: the base is utter ****. 40hp difference, 30 or more of which comes from the S-type head.

what cams are you putting in?
Make sure that they work with your head....
the base rsx head is the same as the ep3 head...
i think its called an A3
so make sure u check that your cams are made for the A3...
if not then you are going to have to get an A2 or A head...
check with the ppl at k20a.org

No problem I did the K24 bottom end with a K20A2 head about two years ago. It's not that hard to do if you have it out of the car and the power increase is awesome. The EP/base-RSX head just plain sucks

x2. You'd be switching heads/internals and nothing will change really. Look into a K20A/A2 head

while you have the setup out of the car...you should do your head work put some pistons n rods in and drop a type S or s2k oil pump in that bitch...but for your original question go with a type S head..

out of curiosity, what type of numbers do you see from a k24xx block/k20a2 head?
