Re: Just ordered new wheels ! (MassRacingLab)
Since when did JDM=Clean?? I thought JDM=JDM and Clean=Clean. Just cause your car is clean, doesn't make you JDM....JDM is when your ******* car was made for the Japanese Domestic Market and is RHD...end of story. All you guys that call yourselves JDM are NOT unless you are driving a TRUE JDM car!! Sorry, I'm just tired of this JDM Bullshit

Also why 16's?

15's are great for accleration, but i have read where 17's actually provide the best handling on a Civic.

17'' wheels are doo-doo IMO because they're expensive, look too big IMO, and the tires are pricey too.
On a 1996-up Civic 16'' wheels look good IMO. !5's almost look a bit small, but they're good too.
1992-1995 civics should have 15'' wheels IMO.

more rotational mass=better acceleration....just think of it like this.....installing little 1-inch model wheels on your civic---you have less rotational mass, therefore, one rotation=about 1/2 inch....now take that versus a 15, 16inch wheel.....of course WEIGHT also plays a huge role in this

more rotational mass=more weight=more energy to accelerate to the same speed.
I think you are talking about CIRCUMFERENCE. If you turn a wheel with a larger circumference, it accelerates the vehicle faster, if grip remains the same. This presumes that you have INCREASED the circumference of the wheel, however, if you have gotten bigger wheels with smaller tires (the plus concept, keeps the outer diameter of the wheel with the tire mounted the same) then you have increased the MASS of the wheel while keeping the outer circumference the same.
When given a choice, the Realtime racing crew put 17 inch wheels on their racing integra, but this was with very expensive and very sticky racing slicks.
When forced to use street tires, they go to the 15 inchers.

I think they went with 17" tires because that was the only way to get a wide enough tire onto the Integras. Solely because Toyo has a limited offering in tire sizes of the tire they can use in that series. Sucks, well sorta, but hey, who cares... they have SSR Competitons, those are super light and super nice... especially if you can afford 'em
