Just joined the 1.6l Crew
Just bought my 3rd import. First was a '90 300zx TT and the second a '98 Eclipse GS-T... I'm now the proud owner of a '94 del Sol SI (d16z6 sohc vtec) and I'm wanting to join the 200mph Club. Any suggestions? I've always been a domestic boy and just used my imports for fun and daily drivers. Short on cash and the car is completely stock. Just looking to pick up some advice and get pointed in the right direction. Is my d16 capable of anything with 153k miles or should i just run it into the ground and svae up for a b16?

Re: Just joined the 1.6l Crew (MaddHatter)
depends on what condition it is in if it has been run to the ground then no but if it has been babied then maybe. and do you mean 200whp. the support for the SOHC VTEC motor's is out they but with a DOHC VTEC you will have more potential. all depends on what you want. i would suggest rebuild with good parts for a turbo, then of course a turbo and some good tuning on the 1.6l but if you wana go DOHC VTEC i would suggest a b18c or even a b18b (ls non-vtec motor) but thats my personal preferance the b16a will be faster then the b18b but i belive the b18b is just a better motor, for several of my own personal reasons but this is how it goes with the power b18c, b16a, b18b, and then the d16. its up to you but with any of the above motors it is possible to get 200whp. just depends on what you want, i also suggest turbo as it is the more cost effecint(sp) way

Re: Just joined the 1.6l Crew (Si Arn)
Funny - i thought these imports were meant to go fast in the high rpms - Would a t3/4 hyrbrid on a b16c with a 100 wet shot be a good way to go? what tranny would be able to handle it? and I meant 200mph as in being able to race from 40-200 since they suck from 0-40... I just wanna be able to hang wiht my friends supra TT and other imports

Re: Just joined the 1.6l Crew (vtecvoodoo)
ok - mock me - thats cool - I just came here for help... Maybe I should rephrase the question.
My goal is to be able to get up to 180-200mph
I don't know a whole lot about Imports other then what i've learned from friends
What kind of power is a d16 capable of handling
What kind of suspension and tranny will be needed to handle the power?
Thanks to the one person with helpful advice so far

Re: Just joined the 1.6l Crew (vtecvoodoo)
ok so basically i'm sol on that one... well I gave up on all hope of ever being fast on the drag strip with a honda, so I figured I'd try and go for a high speed or autox - guessing high speed is out so i'll look into autox - all you had to say was hona's cant do 200mph and I woulda said okay - thanks

Honestly, B16C ain't all that, it's decent, but the B12 CETV supplement has a lot more potential for 200mph runs.

It would have been better if he said "yo dogg could i do with a 400shot of nawz and a t66 turbo on a spoon engine at 16,000rpms in 5th?"
But seriously to MaddHatter, you owned a 90 300ZX TT they are pretty fast cars. The Z doesnt have nearly enough power to hit 200mph, atleast not without alot of mods. And now lets go to that d16....yyeaaa...you feel that mad 106whp? Lots of wheel spin in the rain in 1st gear huh? Its not so much the power needed, or the long gears, the del sol isnt designed to go that fast aerodynamicly. You will most likely flip over and die.
Id try buying a jet plane or something.

Re: Just joined the 1.6l Crew (Spoon Hybrid)
These kids are tools. As for your question, I'd suggest you search about honda motors first. Get acquainted with the engine codes and what engine pushes what power etc. Don't listen to these kids with their b27 and CETV nonsense they are idiots and just don't care for newbies. When in fact they were new once and had a lot of questions as well. If you need any more help feel free to IM me on AIM: hxcadam. Good day.
