Re: JUST INSTALL MY SHORT SHIFTER~!!! (initial_YB)
Yeah so I hear short shifters aren't good for the drag racer...more prone to miss shifts...anyone else heard about this? initial_YB, I'm not tryin' to rag on your short shifter, I think they're pretty bad ***, I just want to know if anyone knows about this because this is the only reason I haven't bought mine yet.

I have a Tenzo R Short Shifter in my Hatch. I love it, but I must say you are more prone to missing 4th Gear, IMHO. This was at the 1\4 Track atleast...on the street it doesnt happen much, but then again...my light to light rces are never into 4th Gear much.

i dunno, i got a shortshifter in my hatch and its pretty smooth at all gears...
gotta agree with inital_YB tho, it feels a lot better than my stock...the throw and the feel especially with the bushings give you a good feeln!
btw, anybody experience any new sounds...like vibrating sounds after their shortshifter installation>?...i mean when your on the road...
im thinkin its my heatshield...but not sure

Re: JUST INSTALL MY SHORT SHIFTER~!!! (project EK)
Yes it feels alot better. And if you miss shift with one then you suck ***
The only problem with short shifters is it wears your syncros alot faster when you race...so enjoy the quick smooth shifting while you stilll can

hey guyz, since i install my shifter today, i drove around every where.. and i donno if itz true... but i feel more faster when i do down-shift... i was going 70mph then, i put in 3rd gear .. DAMN, it kicked it like a BlTCH.... well, is it just how i feel?.. by the way, i got my shifter install at local shop for $25.. i don't know i thought it was pretty good deal....but, i heard that as long as u have jack in your garage, itz easy to install.. i'm just lazy ****...

takes 15min to install. tops. and downshifting would feel the same without a shortshifter. you can just shift faster with it.

<----b&m short shifter with solid mounts... havent driven it lately but whoever said u are more likely to miss-shift either really sucks at driving or has some kind of crappy shifter

Re: JUST INSTALL MY SHORT SHIFTER~!!! (initial_YB)
hellz yeah i just installed my short shifter today. what a difference it makes. i can't beleive the throw it has. the short shifter reduced the throw by 50%....
its takes like 1-2hrs to install NOT NO 15mins......

tell me how it can wear out your synchros? i constantly hear this, and people never give an explanation of how this can happen, so lets hear the reasons?

it doesn't. poor shifting ability wears out synchros. if you're driving style will wear out synchros with a short throw, the stock shifter will do_the_same_thing.

4th gear on the drag strip??? poo poozzz just wind that bitch out in 3rd till the finish line!!!!!
B18B w\ Y1 Transmission, 20" Slicks....6800rpm Fuel Cut = Ending 1\4Mile exactly at end of 4th Gear. You can't just wind a goddam gear out 'until ' the finish line...It's called hitting Fuel Cut.

Uhm...I hate to flame, but your talking like I don't know what I'm doing. Do you honestly think I wouldn't shift before fuel cut in every gear drag racing?

Re: JUST INSTALL MY SHORT SHIFTER~!!!
SHORT SHIFTERS=BAD synchro's if you are used to driving manual with a regular shifter and dog it. your timing on your shifts will be off becuase of the shorter shifts which will cause your tranny to grind. imo they are not worth it.

Feel like a racer? I'll bet within 60 days you'll be complaining about a grinding 2-3 shift.
Personally, I've never had a need for a short shifter. I can already outshift the tranny with a stock shifter.

my civic has a b&m short shifter....I like it!
it shifted really smooth at first but is a little rough now.
I have heard you should get shifter bushing
with a short shifter to make it a bit more smooth... ?
..and why would you be more likely to grind gears at the dragstrip with a short shifter....in that case, you just can't shift!
