Default Just bought some Springs --few Q's??

I'm home for a week on spring break. The springs are due to come in in a day or two --I picked up some Suspension Techniques 1.3" Lowering springs. I got em for $70. I called around and got some estimates on installs. They range from $200 to $350. I'm broke, I wanna go with the $200. Is there anything I should watch for/make sure they do at the shop?

I'm keeping the stock struts for now --the drop is only 1.3" and in the last seven months the car was driven less than 900 miles-- I figure I've got some time before the blow.

I know "you get what you pay for," but is there anything specific I should be watching for when they do the install?

Thanks

Omar

Thats a really high price. Local stores charge $75 - $90 around here. If you are in MD I'll do it for you.

it's a real easy job. one thing you might want to look for is to see if they cut the bump stops. why don't you do it yourself?

$200 is pretty steep price. It's really easy to do yourself, it's a good learning experience, and you'll save yourself some serious cash. But if you want them professionally installed, just like "boostsohfast" said, make sure they cut your bump stops. Make sure to get an alignment soon after the install as well.

I remember when I did my first suspension job...I was a little worried about doing it myself as well...local shops wanted to charge me $400 to put on a set of coilovers...so I said "**** that" and did it myself. Its a whole lot easier than you think...just swap out the old for the new. Then in a couple of weeks take it in for alignment (couple of weeks so the springs can set better)

I got my GC Coilz installed for $100, but I now regret paying to get them installed. The weekend after i PAID to get mine installed, I helped a friend install GC Coilz in his car, and it wasnt TOOO hard, neither did it take TOO long. THINK about doin it yourself, but have someone help you.........someone that knowz their ****!

whats different about these springs and the eibach prokit? are the spring rates the same?

i'm looking for springs that are about 1.3-1.5 or so in the front, but i want the rear to be 1 inch or less. i want a subtle drop, and i've heard the pro-kit might make the rear look lower then the front. maybe i should get goundcontrol??

its easier then you think. Get a day to do it and you'll see for yourself. Took my dad and I about half a day and it was our first time . Im doing the y8 on y7 engine intake manifold install thursday that should not be bad at all too.

the springs came in, i'll try to get em installed tomorrow.

I like the idea of doing it myself, but it's just not possible --I don't have the tools, the time or the know-how. I might end up waiting til summer vacation to put the springs in, we'll see.

One quick question:

two of the springs are slightly longer than the other two. are the longer ones for the front or the back? I'm sure the installers'll know, I'm just curious

Thanks

Omar
