So today, i noticed i needed an oil change. I am going to the track Sunday if weather permits, so not couldnt have been a better time to switch to synthetic.

Using Mobil1 Fully synthetic 5w10 or whatever haha.

Bought the new S2000 oil filer, part number 15400-PCX-004 ..... and its JDM y0.

So heres how it went down. I went up to the parts counter, someone else is being helped. So I make use of my time, and browse through the performance parts they have up for sale. One being a DC JDM 4-1 Ceramic Header. I thought to my self ill ask about that later.

The guy is ready to help me, and i just show him the part number i needed, and said it was an oil filter. He immediatly glanced at it said "yeah thats for the s2000, do you have an s2000" scared as ****, that i lied i said yeah i do
He was like.... "So where did you get that part number" I told him Honda-tech. He was like oh ok, i've noticed this has been all over the boards, and asked what username i post as.

So then i felt bad that i lied about the s2000 (i only lied because i thought he'd be like thats not what you need son, you idiot) and i asked about the DC Header. He said "for you s2000?" I was like no, this is for my Itr Eg...then i confessed about lying. Anyways i am rambling, turns out the DC Jdm 4-1 header is only $279 at the dealership. I just may pick it up tomorrow morning and install it before I head out to the track

lol... i hate when you get put on the spot and you feellike you gotta lie... and there is no s2000 filter... all hondas use the same filter.... they just chnged the filter in a i believe 2001 .. but imean even the honda odessey uses the same filter as the 01 civic on rsx... .. the s2000 should be no exception... i think the higher model acuras may use a different filter.. not sure.. ..

wait..so what are the benifits (if any) if you use an s2k oil filter rather than one that is meant for your motor? laters.

i maybe wrong i never said i was 100% .. but i worked at a fast lube place for 2 years and every honda up until 01 took the same filter.. then every honda 01 and up took te same filter but it was different from he 00 and under.. it may be a bigger filter but i can almost guarantee that it will fit ands work on your honda if it

thats the same part number for every filter i've bought at honda.

and yes, they have changed the oil filters from the bigger size to the smaller sized ones.

i just did an oil change last night and replaced my oil filter with a union japan one (also jdm ), it was noticably larger than the one that i had on there before

I don't doubt that this is the filter you get everytime. But if i asked for any other honda model oil filter today, he wouldn't have given me that model filter. He stated that this is only for s2000. All the other ones are made in USA

i always ask for an Si one and thats the one i always get.. from each counter person..and each dealership.

this is pointless arguing weather its an s2000 oil filter or not. obviously you are convinced and wont sway otherwise..

but WHO REALLY CARES if its an s2000 oil filter and/or if its made in japan? its a damn oil filter

oh yeah.. i forgot.. we all know Japan is known as a country that makes superior quality oil filters compared to U.S. and other countries.
because we all know it takes Japanese Rocket Scientists to keep our oil clean!

ALL honda filters are the same .. they only changed them 01 and up like i said earlier.. and 95 filter will work on a 00 motor but will not work on an 01... but all 01 models and up are the same filter... i had a 88 integra in the shop i work at yesterday and it took the same filter as the 00 si next to it.. there is no model specific filters... im done arguing its pointless

yah the fram small oem oil filter sucks ***...it had the hardest time taking it off..and i only hand tightened it....jdm rules...

Jonas, don't know what to say. I got the same response from the ITR section. All i did was goto the parts counter of John Eagle Honda, and showed him the ripped peice of paper i had with the part number written on it.
btw i rolled up in a prelude. He reads the part, and says " thats an s2000 filter, you got one?"

Beats me man. Either way, the one made by Toyo Roki is of better quality.
Btw, you haven't posted pic of your car in a while.. always love to see shots of your car taken in the city.

Here's the scoop on the filters. All honda's are now using the newer smaller filters on all they're model lines...with the exception of the s2000. The s2000 is the only honda that uses the 'bigger' filter. Honda has released memos to all parts personnel about this and should have been in effect as of a few months ago. That means...if you go to your local honda dealer to pick up an oil filter for say a 2000 honda accord...you will recieve the newer smaller filter. One year ago, if you were to ask for a filter for the same car...you would have gotten the older filter.

As of sometime late last year Honda now only makes single sizes for all their oil filters, Civic DX to a s2000.
They do not filter better, they are the same exact thing.

The Insight and older Hondas (pre 87 on most) use different filters also.
