Re: Just bought my first (gezzuzz)
when I said knock... I meant a really hard knock like it sounds like something is punching the valve cap every 4 sec... Im just torn right now on what I should do... how do I test whats wrong or should I just replace it all?.

first is it worst when its cold (or better when its warm)? either way, if it doesn't remind you of someone tapping a pencil on a table then it's not valves. my guess is a bad main or rod bearing. i have the same problem with my y7. if you're handy you can replace them by taking the oil pan and slipping the old bearings out and the new ones in. but if you don't have a real good idea of the history and condition of the rest of the car and motor then you may want to swap (same or better motor). you'll save money and headaches.

That noise is exactly what it sounds like...tapping a pencil really hard it is loudest when its cold it just does it less when its warm... it almost sounds like its wrapping definately coming from the top of the motor...that is dead on what it sounds like though! its too cold out here to tear it down to really see whats wrong but I will do that soon... would you hear the bearings at the top of the motor? I wouldnt think so it def coming from #4 cylinder though at the top of the valve cap...
