Just bought a '93 Del Sol Si.. what to do?
Well, as much as I hate to say this, I'm an American guy.. i LOVE my domestics. My most recent car being a 12 second '89 5.0. Fast as ***** and lots of fun. Well, I happened to run across a CLEAN '93 Del Sol Si. 64k miles. 5spd, 1.6vtec (d16 something or other) etc.
I love this thing!! I LOVE the targa top and rear window. It's got a 2" drop spring kit, and a mildly humming exhaust. Not too ricey unless you stomp on it. Its so low, and comfortable etc. What caught my eye was ".... 10 gallon gas tank.... 340 miles in city driving... 400+highway.... very reliable...". Pretty much.
What can you's tell me about it? What about modability? Hondata? Or not for factory motors?
I think it has aftermarket headers though.. they pipes are large looking.
Thanks all,
Matt

yeah just throw it at him, dude this guy doesnt know anything about boost i would thnk cuz hes drivin domeshits, just kiddin i own a stang myself, but if u want that same mpg cuz it seems like thats important to you
get an intake, full exhuast which u may have, with headers and piping thats all you can really do to it keepin it na but ull make about 0 hp seriously
all you can do is boost it with a turbo kit and tune it properly, use chrome dont use hondata cuz they are expensive for the same **** ull get, first getsome knolege about the car and boost, im not saying you have no knolege or dont know anything but im just refering to what u posted cuz you said hondata on an na motor sohc which will do nothing, any mods to that motor keeping it na will create very little hp whith lots of $$ being spent, my freing boosted his 1995 civic(same motor as you) spent 1000$ and got it boosted its now running 13 secs with stock internals, he self tuned it using chrme

This is what I'm doing to my civic...
Building a powerful N/A D16z6/y8
Only because I want a reliable motor (not saying boosting is un-reliable, just too many headaches)

I'm a HUGE d-series fan, but I hate to tell you. For that $3000 build, you might as well go B-series if you're set on staying NA.

Lol, i believe that $3k would be for a complete swap with a built z6. I've already priced everything out...it should only run me about 1300 (if that).
The most expensive part will be the Crower Stage 3....

ROFL
I'm just doing this on the side...I have a z6 in my civic right now and am going to pick up another z6 block and head and build that on the side. I really don't care about racing at all (that's what a motorcycle is for ) , I just want a little bit more power, nothing extravagant.

9-10 on a street car is very hard to maintain and quite difficult for a dd, ok bolt ons on a d is just stupid and u have to get ur hands way to dirty, let alone all the money, 3000$ is alot and ur car will get -160whp, thats fast but get a turbo and do that same amount of money u have a car pushin +180whp safely with stock internals, whats hard about a turbo,
get a kit or build one(cheaper)
ecu(chipped)
injectors
good tune
i can get that done with less than 1200$
