Default Just bought it!

and there's a problem..
First I'd like to say, I searched.

I bought a '97 CX today. When I test drove it, everything was okay. But on the way home I threw it into some hard turns. When the wheel is turned (either direction) and in a hard turn, there's a sqeaking noise. It's not the shocks or springs. And it's definitely not coming from inside the cabin. The noise is coming from the front of the car. It's consistent throughout the turn. It only makes this noise when in a turn hard. Under normal driving it's completely normal.

From what I've read, the only thing that really goes on the car would be the CV joints. I searched "joints" and didn't find a description or symptoms.

Can anyone confirm or relate to my problem? Any advice would be helpful too.

Oh and the car has no power steering. So that can't be bad.

Other than that, it's my first Honda and it's quite fun.

if its a low whiney noise, it can be ur power steering. check fluid levels. mine does it on extreme turns when not moving, dont know bout moving.

Usually when it is an axle you will hear a clicking rather than a squeaking noise.

To check if it may be your axle just turn your wheel in either direction as far as you can, and look behind the wheel to see if the boot is busted or not. Good Luck

okay.

Narrowed it down a bit more. The noise only comes when I'm turning right, and apparently it doesn't have to be a hard turn. That's just when I first noticed it.

The noise sounds like a loose accessory belt or no brake pads. So more of a squeal than a squeak. I checked the belts and brakes and they were fine. Not to mention the noise comes when I'm not braking.

I'll check the axles as soon as it stops raining. But there's been no click.

Almost tempted to drop it off at the stealership.

It's probably your bushings, replace them, they aren't that expensive.
Your car does not have power stearing and your axles don't make sqeaks besides you would hear them clicking at any speed while turning.
Energy Suspension makes a complete set for your car for under $200.00

Could be a Wheel Bearing.

My front Driver Wheel Bearing is starting to go.

It hums going in a straight line but when you turn the car hard one way it makes a noise but the noise is not there turning hard the other way.

it can squeal when you turn with out hitting the brakes and still be the brakes.

*try turning while lightly hitting the brakes, if its goes away change your pads**

you have quite the list of vehicles in your sig...props to trying all of them

they're fun little cars, enjoy!

regarding the noise...the only thing i can think of that you maybe haven't checked is the brake dust guards on the front, i remember my friend's sister's car's guards used to hit the rotor on hard turns (not sure how), but when he bent it back a little the noise went away

Thanks Sijray. I just need a couple more to say I've driven every make available in the states.

I checked the brakes and it's not that. It might be the wheel bearings. I'm thinking about just taking it to the stealership. They charge like $85 for a full inspection. And they wave it if I get it fixed through them...

Well the forums is useful for a number of different things. But being that I just bought the car, a full inspection isn't neccesarily a bad idea. This way I can know what needs to be fixed before it actually breaks.

And as far as work is concerned, I don't take all my work to a dealer. But if they're going to charge me $85 for an inspection, and IF the repair is say $100 (unlikely) but if the case. Then 85 vs 100 (since 85 is waived if I do a repair there) then why not just let them do it?
