Default JDM GSR P72 ECU WORK For...?

quick question just to get some reassurance,

does the JDM P72 GSR ecu work pretty much the same for a usdm gsr?
-planning to run obd2a chassis obd2a 98b18c1 with jumper harness obd2a-obd1. I just need the ecu left!
-just got a comeup on a really good deal for this ecu like dirt cheap..

Anyone HT!?

I can tell you the tune will be slightly different but should work. The engine in Japan has higher compression (10.6:1 if i remember right), just like the usdm type R

besides though dumb question..but it should well here's the situation my obd2a gsr right now is giving me a code for charcoal canister sensor and rear o2 sensor..but if i go obd1 those problems don't exist for the obd1 gsr right? since obd1 doesn't use rear o2 and for sure i checked doesn't have a charcoal canister top sensor that goes to the ecu.. and i'm already planning to tune my car in the future so this route is much easier as well.

The JDM P72 also has a speed limiter at like 115-120MPH

If interested, I have a Virgin OBD2A P72 USDM GSR ECU for $100 Shipped.

been looking on ht and no one has the top vapor sensor for the obd2a gsr one. so i have to have a shop make it(idk anything about wiring..) and get a rear o2 sensor+catalytic converter all that is for sure over 140$ just to bar the damn thing, idk..yeah i know i wouldn't mind having bar'd so i don't have to worry and it's good for resale, but i rather go obd1 for the option to tune later..and while i'm on obd1 i shouldn't have to deal with any bull emissions cels..but if i do plan to go legit later, i'll just save up the parts i need left to pass ref and put them on the car and take out the obd1 ecu and jumper harness and put back in the obd2 ecu lol

Pay now or more later. Just my .02 cents. Why are you worrying about converting to obd1 when you can run a stock ecu perfectly fine as it is? You're going to definitely have to deal with emissions no matter how you look at it. $250 for illegal smog? or $8.50 to be legit?

I actually have a USDM obd2a 96-98 P72. If you want I can ship it to even quicker as we're just a few hours away. And it won't be $100 shipped. That *** is out of his dumb mind. You can source these all day like Pho Noodles!

The JDM OBD1 P72 will run nearly the same as the USDM P72. It has slightly different fuel/ignition/idle maps, but will run without troubles. Just remember, since you plan on tuning it you will need to have it socketed by someone who does the JDM ECU's (they use different components to socket than USDM ECU's).
