all of them can be made legal by putting all the usdm smog stuff on the engine then take it to a ref

i have read a post about getting a JDM engine legal a while back, I think CA is letting JDM engine legal now, meaning you can smog them and getting a BAR sticker for it.

Use the search.

EDIT: Ca has allowed JDM engines for about 5 years now. Just no one knew.

They are actually legal if you don't get caught.

Exactly. The US smog equipment/ECU is necessary.

What about the Visual part. In Cali, if you take it to a ref and tell them its a JDM motor, you automatically fail. Is there any way to bypass this?

Spade, tell him what he's won!

A brand new! Shiny! Copper penny!

There's a thread floating around called "smog referee" it should detail a lot. Oh, and the mysterous b20...I think you'll have to call your local ref and ask him because I've gotten two answers from different refs. EG6si's ref said yes, Spade's ref said no.

some people spread misinformation in here....they are legal but there are some hoops you have to jump through to make it legal...b18c5 is legal because its usdm
