Im in the middle of buying a '00 JDM b18c5 Block from someone.

He gave me the Vin number from the block And i looked at it tonight (matched up).

Now i "thought" that JDM motors did not come with a vin. tag like the US ones do. ....

I ran the vin number that he gave me through carfax and its saying that it is not valid...???

You think this block is stolen?? JDM????

Can i tell from the vin if its JDM??

I do NOT want to buy anything stolen and am anxious to know whats up with it....

if it says c5 on the block its usdm, jdm only have c

As far as I know, that's correct.

As beaterdriver said, if the block is stamped "B18C5," then it is a USDM or CDM engine. JDM engines only have 4 characters in the block stamp, so if it were a JDM engine, it would just say "B18C."

As far as I know, (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)
if the first digit on the vin is a 1, then it was made in the US.

IF the first digit is a J, then it is Japanese.

all tegs were made in japan, so all the vins will start with a J
