Default jdm b17a1...what to expect?

I just got a hell of a deal on a b17a1. I went to test drive it, but it's been raining for a day straight here and the roads are flooded, so I really didn't get to feel the power it put down. Basically, I just want more info on this motor if someone can help me. Is this any harder to put into a 00 hatch than a b16/b18c would be? I'm guessing it is vtec, but I honestly couldn't tell because of the flooded streets. I know it's from a jdm gs-r, but that's about all I know. What kind of numbers is it putting down stock? How does it pull compared to a b16a and a gs-r? I'm guessing somewhere in between the two. What are the ups and downs to this motor? The b17a1 means it is obd1, correct ? Sorry for my ignorance, but b17s are not very common around here, so I never hear much about them. Any input would be greatly appreciated

the b17a1 is actually a usdm motor from 92-93 Integra gs-r. It will swap into your car just as easily as a b16. Yes it is has vtec and it is OBD-1. It is almost the same as a b16 its just .1 liter bigger.

Thanks for the help guys! Anyone know the exact hp/tq it puts down?

Also, to keep my a/c all I need is a 99-00 si a/c compressor, correct? And I will need an obd2 to obd1 conversion jumper harness, correct? Just trying to gather all the parts to get this swap done!

you can't use the tranny, it has a cable clutch. You'll need a hydraulic transmission from a 94-01 Integra, 94-97 del Sol VTEC or a 99-00 Civic SI to put it into your hatch. You will also need the rear tranny mount from a 99-00 SI. You can use your stock AC compressor with a ac mount from a 94-97 del SOl VTEC and I believe a CRV.

It's coming out of a 92-95 hatch now...doesn't that mean that it should swap directly into my car? Tranny and all? Or did 92-95 hatches have cable trannys?

If it's already in an EG then there is a hydro tranny on it already. So, yes it will be a direct swap except for the rear tranny mount will be different, you'll need one from a 99-00 SI

It is in a 92 or 93 hatch right now, can't remember which year. Does this mean that is positively has a hydro tranny? Can anyone confirm that all I need to swap is the rear tranny mount? Not trying to insult you or anything, just want this to be confimed before I lay down the cash for this swap. Thanks guys!

Unless the previous owner used a Hasport hydro to cable conversion. Doubt it but its possible

Well if he did, it would be included seeing it is the full swap. So all I would need to make this swap work is a 99-00 SI rear tranny bolt? Anyone know a ballpark figure of what you will pay for one?

Thanks again guys

Thanks for all the help man

So if this swap is coming out of a 92-95 hatch it should directly swap into mine minus the rear tranny bolt?

It is already stated in this thread that it is USDM. Whether it is jdm or not does not affect my buying decision. I simply said I thought it was from a japanese 93 gsr...but I obviously don't think that anymore.

Anyways, back on topic, will this swap directly from a 92-95 hatch to my 00 hatch with the exception of the rear tranny bolt?

160 hp/ 117 tq

And you will need a drivers side mount and rear tranny mount. You can use them from a 99-00 si, but i recommend getting a innovative motor mount kit. I used the stock si mounts on my b18 swap and the drivers side mount broke and caused my motor to hit my hood.

If it is a complete swap from an eg it should come with all the mounts I need already, correct?

Meaning the only thing I would need is the rear tranny mount?

the thing is that eg's can use all the stock integra motor mounts... eks cant. The best thing you can do is ask the seller what kind of mounts it comes with.

Ok. The kid selling it isn't too bright with this car stuff, he doesn't really know what he has...so this might not work.

What kind of mounts can I get if the ones I get don't work? What is a ballpark figure for decent mounts?

I basically need a driver's side motor mount and a rear tranny bolt to make this swap work? And an a/c mount if I decide to keep a/c?
