Isn't the JDM like the USDM, the only difference being that the cigarette lighter and ash tray are reversed? Correct me if I'm wrong.

no its different, the holes in the bracket on the top of the audio console where it's supposed to connect onto the dash doesnt line up to the dash. also, the cover is a bit different, the USDM one slants kind of to the right and the JDM slants kind of to the left.

I hate it when people dont know what they are talking about. (shakes head)

You have to cut up the silver bracket thing under the usdm console. I used a
grinder and just ground it down untill it wouldnt hit, then cut off the bracket on
the back of the JDM console. Its kind of ghetto, if I had a choice I would go for the
usdm peice. Fits much better.

there are several differences. First the ashtray/lighter are on opposite sides
2nd the jdm ones face the rhd chassis as for the honda optional console faces the lhd chassis.

Yes, there is a JDM audio console, and yes, I have it in my USDM civic, but to tell you the truth, it doesn't fit that good due to LHD dash and RHD dash difference. There are gaps between the console and the dash no matter how hard I tried to move and adjust. I rather get the USDM optional console.

isn't it kinda self explanatory that the jdm one angle to the right and the usdm one angle to the left? why don't you just get the usdm one? no need to modify anthing..just install it and done deal..
the 2 differences that i know is the angle of it and the cig. lighter on the opposite side.
just go the the honda dealer and get a usdm one.

mine is the jdm one i think. that was what i was told..and it fits fine..here is a pic..most of you im sure have seen by now ..but im just trying to help

IF you look..the console from japan acutally is NOT this one..cause it would NOT fit..because if you look closely. the console favors teh driver..it kinda angles and has more curve on the pax side of the console i bet this curve is on the wrong side on yours hence why it wont fit.... Hope this helps.. Des,

Will they work in the USDM cars? I know if you were to take a radio from Europe and install it into a USDM car it will not work. They work off different frequences in other parts of the world. ...ya know? Good luck on it though.

I was just about to say the same thing ..um gq cowboy or what ever it is..he is NOT looking for a radio.. He has a JDM console like mine but im thinking it doesnt fit because its made to give the driver more visual his from japan would give the passenger more visual and thats why it doesnt fit. i would think.

I dont think you read the whole post either. I have a jdm console in mine.
I got it for free, so I cant complain. It took some custom work but it fits
okay for the price.

I heard that since the JDM center audio console is facing the driver on the right hand side, that it won't work with the LHD cars

and that was exactly what i was trying to tell him..but he thought i wasnt understanding. I do. If you have a JDM it will NOT fit unless you do custom work to make it fit..cuase it curves slightly more on the pax side than the drivers side because the driving needs the console befor the rider does. we are just trying to help man

OMG.. how many times do i have to say that the JDM console doesnt face OR angle any certain way!!! it's just that the cover on it slants more to the driver side in a USDM civic. that's it! the face of the console doesnt "face" the passenger in a USDM civic. jeez. it doesn't "face" any direction at all. if anything, it "faces" straight at my armrest.

i might as well snap some shots of the JDM console in my civic to prove to everyone besides "elwood" that this thing DOES fit pretty nicely, for the price, in my civic.

and btw, thanks for the help elwood.

pics of console installed in my car will be up soon.

in the mean time, here's a pic of how it looks like.

as you can see in the pic.. the TOP part of the JDM console is "slanted" more towards the driver (SIDE A) in a USDM car (passenger in JDM car). thus, reducing a little leg space for the driver. in japan, the console would be taking up a little leg space for the passenger (like they need it anyways). and that is why it doesnt fit right in a USDM console. but with a little modification, it fits.

i dont know if u guys know what i'm talkin about because i suck at explain stuff

but man if you look at mine yours is *** backwards Look at his pic everyone then scroll back up and look at mine.. Before the AFC my cig lighter was on the other side of yours ..to to PAX side..yours will not mount because the bolts wont match all. Something so simple as a slant will cause something NOT to fit Just think of a fender. Wrong shape..NO fit.
