JDM?
Ok, so I've been wondering for a while, what is JDM and whats the rave about it?
I looked up the Acronym for it and found it to stand for.. Japanese Domestic Market. So everyone wants stuff from Japan... ? Why?

Re: JDM? (Paprika)
*SIGH* (ducking for the avalanche of silly answers)
Most people like the idea of JDM stuff because of its (supposed) exclusivity. It's kind of like a "grass is greener" type situation. Something from halfway across the globe can be perceived as more exotic.
There's a million JDM lovers and another million JDM haters on H-T. They rarely agree with each other.

Most of the rage is just a fad, although they do have some great stuff over there. Probably a better topic for gd&d though since this isn't civic exclusive, or really very technical (yet)

that's true. but the funny thing is that jap people try to convert their stuff into usdm. like for example, ive seen the toyota alteeza be fully converted into the lexus IS 300.. rims, emblems, seats, etc... it's just a funny thing

Re: JDM? (Paprika)
I dont care, I just want to go fast, thats why Im on this site and thats why I spend money on my car.
Some, and I really mean SOME of the JDM parts are cool, I really like the long armrest for the EG but I think thats about it.
For me its whatever functions great. I would never pay more for a JDM audio console when I can almost get a brand new USDM one for the same price.
I could never see myself buying JDM glass windows, JDM EG6 Engine plates ETC ETC. Its just not me.
JDM: I dont hate it or love it, I just dont care.

JDM is pretty much stuff sold in japan....not really stock lookin civics, integras, and amber corners....just means products made in japan....i was in japan a couple months ago and most of the cars there are what people here call "rice", with the big wings, big wheels, and decals all over....so pretty much JDM means **** made in japan....i remember when everyone was rollin in body kits and big wheels, now everyone flames on em hahaha...funny how people are...everythings a fad nowadays

Re: JDM? (WeruntypeR)
JDM motors have 10 more horses because they are built using higher quality gasoline. The guys in japan think that american parts are hot biz while we think japanese parts are hot biz. We copy them while they copy us, irony at it's finest. I've never been a jdm guy, I buy parts based on form and function. The only jdm part on my car (spoon) started to fall apart a month after I got it.

Re: JDM? (Kalokohan)
JDM does mean Japanese Domestic Market, but it does not mean stock. It means any parts that are only available in Japan which could be factory options like kick panel flares or aftermarket stuff like Mugen valve covers. It goes either way. I think it was much cooler before it got huge, so when the ricers grow tired of it and it's not a fad anymore I'll go back.
