the fake ones have the black stripe around the outside. the real ones have nothing and are usually green numbers and characters.

well if u want a japanese vin/license plate, u can go to japan and buy a car there since the vin plate is for classification purposes of cars in japan.since the car is in america..our american counterparts here do the same job (motor vehicle classification) just fine.

Thats Bad JUJU... Ive been tempted many times to snag the plates of wrecked cars or junkyard cars but there is searious penalties for doing that over here.

Besides half of the time people have the wrong type plates for the car anyways (you wouldint put a nismo sticker on your car would you). I Think most hondas should be 500 plates unless its of the vigor or nxs nature. I think it goes by engine displacement/ vehicle weight. See the one pictured it has a 3 on it that could be off of a semi truck for all any one knows.

Just if anyone really cares....

fake ones are all over, i beleive if you want a real deal you eithr have to steal it off a car or go take one from a junk yard as the plates stay with the vehicle even if owners are changed

Not true. The plates are taken by the government when they are finished with them. I went to 3 salvage yards while I was in japan last year and they had none. Its hard to find one. I just happen to run upon a car that was about to go to the salvage yard and snagged it before it did. Good luck finding a true plate. If the guy's plate who paid $11 for his is real, he got a hell of a deal.

should be free, but why would anyone want one then? Its unique because its not readily available to everyone. Can't run to wal-mart and get one of these.
