Well gear-wise, the Si & ITR tranny's have the same exact gearing depending what year & type (JDM or US) ITR tranny your friend has access to.

If anything, the only benefit he'll get from going with any US ITR or JDM 95.5-97 ITR tranny is the LSD, which you can prolly buy seperately & used from someone or someplace and install it in the Si tranny (its a direct fit without issues).

Short shifters can mess up syncros if they're too short. A short shifter being too short throws off the geometry of the shifter, hence the reason why the syncros are affected..

you should just buy a kazz or cusco lsd and have it installed on your si tranny. the gear ratio you have now will be just fine.

short shifters are a matter of personal opinion. personally i think theay are great but alot of people will disagree.

The ITR transmission has dual-cone synchronizers and slightly more beefy internals vs. the stock B16 box.
