ITR stuff on a ej8
probably should post this in the hybrid section... but here goes:
I'm putting itr springs on my 00 civic coupe... also on the way is a itr rear sway and itr catback exhaust... I know this topic has been covered, BUT this guy I talk to today says that I'll need new arms if I want to put on an itr rear sway... and also, it was never really clearly covered whether the itr catback will fit on ej8's... I know it wont be bolt on but could somebody clarify just what needs to be done? thanks in advance

For the rear sway bar, Just use Si end links. and it should be fine. Also to avoid having to drill new bolt holes, Just use the bushings off a 99-00 Si rear sway bar. Other wise you'll have to drill two holes to fit the ITR bar on there. You only need the lower control arms if you're putting on the front sway bar. If you decide to put a front sway bar on. The 99-00 Si sway bar is what fits the chasis. But you'll also need the lower control arms and the forks off the 99-00 Si.
Hope that helps.

Re: ITR stuff on a ej8 (Supersonic DC2)
You use the Si 'D' brackets, not the rubber bushings. Replace the rubber bushings with urethane ones. You can get mugen urethane bushings and reinforcement plates for $50 shipped, or around that price.

Re: ITR stuff on a ej8 (JDM Style EK)
excuse me for being a newbie, but I've never messed with suspension stuff before, and I want to know if there's a site where it has terms (endlinks, bushings, d bracket...etc) along with a pic of what they look like lol
maybe I'll understand this easier when i get the bar and take a look at the arms

Re: ITR stuff on a ej8 (tFUnK)
You have to drill new holes for the brackets. That's the 'D' shaped piece that's bolted in. The top hole will align, but the bracket is too long for the bottom hole, so you have to drill a new one. But as i mentioned before, you can use the bushings (rubber piece under the metal 'D' bracket') but use the Si 'D' bracket and not have to drill any holes. Here's an illustration of how the 'D' bracket is too long to fit into both holes. Why drill when you don't have to
Also, if you use the ITR endlinks, it won't be straight up and down, it will be angled - and thats why the ITR bar will tear teh subframe. So it's best to use the Si endlinks so that the ends are straight up and down.
Hope that helps

To answer your question -
End links - Attatches the ends of the sway bar to the control arm. Here's a few pics
The Arrows show where each end of the end link goes.
D Bracket - D shaped piece of metal used to tighten the bar down. Goes over the bushing. - The above post has a pic of a D bracket.
Sway Bar Bushings - Rubber or Urethane piece that surrounds the bar (there are different bushings for different parts on the car) Below is a picture of the D bracket over the Bushing (the red urethane)
Again, hope that helped.

here is a pic of the beaks kit on my car. its two plates the go on each side of the subframe to protect it from the bar ripping out.

Re: ITR stuff on a ej8 (Jackson)
nice, so what did you mean by saying the plates go on both sides of the subframe? did you mean one on each side or one in front, one behind? looks like a nice, clean install on an EJ actually... and it seems to me that you could still put on a lower tie bar on the bolt next to the D bracket?
When installing the endlinks onto the LCA is it pretty much obvious which hole to put the endlinks on? Also during the install, should I take off the wheels? Or is that unnecessary?

the gold plate you see behind the d-bracket is the beaks srk. it goes on both sides of the subframe (which is really thin) to give it more support. there is only one hole on the lca for the endlink to go on. and yes, i could put on a tiebar, but i havent. you can keep the wheels on too.
