Call the Acura Dealer. Or get a used B16 and trade it in an get a Rebuilt Spoon motor for an additional 3k
i was just wondering... when you get a rebuilt motor from spoon, what does spoon actually do to it/add on to it/etc. and what is the difference with gettting your motor somewhere else as compared to getting it from spoon(other than $$$$) i was just wondering if the money would be worth it.

Damn a brand new ITR form the Acura Dealership well cost as much as two ITR engines, that's because they're so brand new, I know because I looked it up before! Its better if you buy it kinda used at web sites such as JDMHONDAPARTS.COM. Also check out Ebay cause sometimes they have some pretty good deals there, though its more risky.

Even if you manage to contact Spoon about rebuilding your engine you might need a translator because they don't really speak english, except for their head boss. And even if you get that, you'll need to ship it to Japan which will cost a lot. And when you get it back you'll find out later that you could've saved shipping money by just shipping it to Portflow or any other reputable place and get the same quality work. Spoon actutally sells crate engines that come with all of Spoons parts and quality workman ship, depending on what you want you can get a fully built Spoon B16A for about $3,000. Sounds pretty tiite huh? But then again it doesn't come with the header, shift linkage or axles, its just the engine. You should check out Takakaira.com, they are an international race-parts seller. Damn that place sells so much JDM stuff that can't be found here.

i think these guys are right. a used B18C5 with about 30k miles on it, run for about $5,500 so the price of a crate engine would be insane. for a little more, you could have a built up spoon B16 with more horsepower.
i'm just throwng that out there... ask you local acura dealer and find out how much they cost first, then decide.

How about:
buy a used b16, sell the block, get a used b18c block, change the pistons. You'll have ITR displacement & compression. It will take time and some work on your part, but if money is a problem, that should a less expensive option.

You could also get a b20 block instead of the b18c. You will need to drill for the oil line and change the rods/pistons to optimize compression (and handle the high revs), but then you'll have almost 2 liters of VTEC fury.

Just some food for thought, so eat up!

While full crate motors aren't available anymore, I think you can still get a new short block assembly and stick a B16 head on it...
