Itching to become a member (question as well)
Really wanna become a member so I can start doing some serious chatting with you guys and gals.
I have a question to ask as well, looking for some opinions.
At the moment I have a 97 DX coupe basically all show no go. I was wondering what you guys thought would be the best route for me to take? Should I, sell it and get a new civic and work my way from there OR should I take what I have now and mold it? As of now the car has, HID conversion, Xenon body kit, 17' rims on low profiles, altezzas, and 5Zigen springs. If I keep the car I was looking to put a B18 in it as suggested by someone here, obviously get a new tranny, a new paintjob, and possibly a new hood. Suggestions?

Well hold on there Tiger. First of all, you only have 5 posts a day until you are a member, so unless you stop bumping the thread every 5 minutes you're going to run out. I say just keep what you have and work your way into what you want now. It's easier than selling the car and finding a new one.

Yeah I know im gonna run out for the day, which blows .. but I was really looking for some opinions on this.
The car has a few dents in odd spots as well and I didnt know how much or if it was going to be possible to get the dents out without replacing the part. It has one right above the door in particular.
I agree it would be easier than finding a new car, thanks.

Re: (SOHC_MShue)
well there was a NICE HID article, that showed that if it isnt OEM, then it probably sucks, and is also Illegal, so I would get rid of that anyways... If you want performance and dont care about looks, sell the body stuff and rims, take the money and get engine, if you want it the way it is now, save for engine etc..

I don't know about everyone else here on H-T. But I will give you my opinion if you want to hear it. Before you start going and buying a new car or even strip your current one out to rebuild it. Take a little time. think about what you want to get out of the car/project? Are you going to rebuild it just for looks, drag, road-racing/auto-x ? What you want to get out of the car will help you decide on what to do and buy. There are alot of options and things that can be done to you car. Ive been putting junk into my 98EK hatch for a few years now. The one thing i did learn about doing it was! when i didn't have a clear plan i ended up waisting money and time on crap i didnt need or that i ripped out later and is sitting in my garage taking up space. hope this helps you out a little.

Subtractions
1. Lose the HIDs
2. Lose the body kit
3. Lose the 17s
4. Lose the altezzas
Additions
1. Si wheels or shitstreams (oops I mean slipstreams )
2. 97+ b18c1 swap (Shouldn't run more than 3500 for everything for a GSR motor)
3. Decent header pipe (comptech or 98+ JDM itr)
4. Decent cat (JDM CTR or carsound)
5. Decent 2.5" cat back ( JDM itr or Kteller )
6. good intake (Comptech icebox or stock itr intake setup)
7. tuning items (B&M FPR/fuel guage and a Hondata OR Apexi VAFC)
8. STICKERS!!! stickers make it mad fast YO!! (j/k)
Keep in mind these are only motor and wheel suggestions. I am not going to go into suspension, interior, or sound.
You can't go wrong with OEM items. So anywhere you can use OEM, use it!!
