Default Interior Lights not working (Cluster and climate control ) Help?

I have a 1996 Honda Civic CX hatchback that I recently picked up as a daily driver. The previous owner installed a Civic EX Cluster in it and it had some ghetto ricer-looking light on the roof the cluster that lit up with the city lights and low-beams. I removed it because I was embarrassed when people looked at it at stop lights. Now, I have no lights.

I have tried searching on here for resolutions but haven't found any. I've checked all my fuses and they are all good... I wonder if the dimmer switch could possibly play a role in this? Any answers appreciated, thank you in advance.

It's the cluster lights and the dash lights that don't work. The lights that DO work are the dome light, gas light, SRS light, oil pan and battery lights, and climate / Defroster lights.

does your turn signal work? does your tail light turn on when you turn on the head light?

check your fuses and bulbs? maybe if it came from a ricer kid...maybe they messed up the wiring somehow when they pulled the cluster out to install that ricer light...if it was inside the plastic cover or when he swapped out the cx cluster for the other cluster. did you say the climate control lights dont work either? if both dont work its probably a fuse or unhooked wire somewhere.

Its both the cluster and climate control. As I said the green and orange lights work like turn signals, emergency flash, and green climate lights, it's just the icon lights and gaue lights that don't work

hopefully this is helpful but the same situation happened to my eg...either one of 2 things

- there can be a short in the dimmer switch which can cause the cluster lights and climate control lights not to come on/ or the dimmer switch is broken itself so if you can find another one its worth a try

- another thing is does your headlights work? if your headlights and turn signals work, then it can also be your headlight combination switch, contacts on them can go bad but its rare

Dayum, so you checked all the bulbs too? If your other cluster works then the new cluster is the problem.

Did the lights work before you move the other lights the previous owner had?

yeah, i checked all the bulb..replaced all the bulbs to make sure and nothing..this is the cause of the entire problem, pics below, i soldered together and everything works now..light up and everything..so for those who have tried everything and still have problem..i suggest looking very closely at the back of ur cluster..

just that tiny split alone is the cause of my problem..i didn't know it was connected throughout the entire cluster, but it did..

I plugged in my CTR cluster from my other car and it worked fine and lit up. I was looking behind the cluster and there is no breaks in the copper wire surrounding the back of the cluster... I guess I just need a new one

remove all the screws behind ur cluster..take a flat head screwdriver and pry the copper plate off the cluster..there are some wire linking one place to another..see if all those are intack..that's how i found out my one break point is connected to the entire cluster..check that first b4 buying a different one..

If both your climate control and cluster aren't working, and all your fuses are good .... 99% chance it's your dimmer switch.

if the dimmer switch is broken then his CTR cluster would not light up..where as in this case it DOES light up..therefore it's not the dimmer switch..i still think there might be a break in the copper line behind the cluster..

Well I appreciate the help EVERYONE, but I went to plan C... Luckily for me on craigslist I got a mint EX cluster w/ only 60k miles on it for $40 so for craigslist and hopefully this thread can give tips to others for future reference.
