intake manifolds
Hello,
I'm wondering how much bottom end power do aftermarket intakes lose compared to my D16Y8 stocker. I've heard that porting to match the bigger throttle body and a gasket-match on the port side is all they need for a "stage 1" street motor.
But the aftermarket manifolds look kinda cool.....
Any opinions here would be cool.
thanks,
kurt

Hondas dont have any bottom end to lose.

Re: intake manifolds (Chiovnidca)
I kinda figured as much. I do miss torque when I put my other car away for winter, but it's still fun.
Anybody else have an opinion?

IMO an aftermarket IM on an otherwise stock D16Y8 is pointless. Unless it's boosted and you're being bottlenecked by the stock manifold, or you've got some crazy N/A motor the stock D16Y8 is as good as the stock ones get.
Hell many D series people ditch their stock manifolds and use the D16Y8 IM as an upgrade!
IMO spend your money elsewhere...

Re: intake manifolds (B18C5-EH2)
That's what I thought, but, as you might have seen, I'm a NOOB, so if there's something I don't know about, I'd like to hear it. The first time I heard the Y8 was decent was from a guy from Singapore at a dental convention.
I think I'll pull it off, port, port-match and powdercoat it. I was thinking a cam change and a small shot of nitrous in the future, does anybody see problems here?
Best thing is I can upgrade it later if I need to.
thanks,
kurt

Re: intake manifolds (re-animator)
I have a y8 intake manifold on a boosted y7 that runs high 13s. I port matched it to the head and polished the intake runners just by the head and I'm very happy with it.
