Intake manifold gasket change question
I saw this gasket in a magazine, saying up to 5% more hp (which seems a bit high, but the tech makes sense), and for $30 on ebay, it seemed worth it. Now swapping out the gasket seems simple enough, but the problem i have is, i have no way to jack up my sol (well i do, but my driveway is gravel ). Everything can be done from the top except refilling my coolant. Is this a necessary step?

According to my haynes manual, the final step is "drain, flush and refill coolant". Nothing else involving the coolant before that. Also, to completely drain my coolant, i have to get to my block...i've tried, and i cant do it. Car sits too low.

Yes, but according to the manual, it has to be done from the bottom of the block as well. Furthermore, i'm not even sure if i can reach the radiator drain plug by the way my car sits.

get the hondata IM gasket
are you trying to flush your radiator ? there is a plastic wing screw at the bottom of the raiator. put a pan underneath it and unscrew it. itll drain most of the coolant out.

This one that i'm looking at says it'll add more power than the hondata. Also, i'm not having a problem with actually draining out the coolant, i'm just wondering if it's necessary.

Just out of curiousity though. I believe the bleed valve is on top. I'm working in a gravel driveway with no animals or children around. Could i not still avoid draining/flushing/refilling the fluid, just simply add more to replace the coolant lost, and bleed the coolant afterwards?

You dont need to jack up the car but make sure you drain all the coolant before you pull off the manifold or coolant will seep into your intake valves like what happened to me. Unscrew the plastic wingnut on the bottom of your radiator to drain it. While your at it u might as well flush your system anyway.....Good Luck

Just removing the drain plug from the Radiator will not remove all the coolent in the intire cooling system . IF you do want to drain all of the coolent. Then after you drain the radiator you will have to do like the manual says and drain the rest from the plug on the block.

Safety . I dont especially want to jack up my car on gravel. It's not tiny rocks, they're rather large.
