Intake Mani-Tech
I have a b17a1 and the IM for this engine looks kinda weak. I was thinking about getting the 94+ GSR IM cause it looks real hefty. Would this be an upgrade or a downgrade or make no difference at all?
Moreover would the b18 IM even fit?

Re: Intake Mani-Tech (turbotime)
I think that all if not most of the b series manis should fit to the engine. If i am not mistaken i think that the gsr mani has better flow so it should be better in theory . just my .02
anyone, correct me if i am wrong?

Re: Intake Mani-Tech (civiccpedx)
GSR mani is different than all other b-series motors if I'm not mistaken. I *BELIEVE* that the b17 had the same head casting as the b16 & b18c5/r in which case you'd need to find one for that motor. No idea if there's a benefit to switching to one of the others as I can't even think of what a b17 mani looks like right now,.

I cannot believe what some are saying...
The B18C intake manifold will NOT fit a B16/B18C5 head without modifications. Thats just all there is to it. You would need to wire up the butterflies, hook up the vac lines, and also run an ECU which supports the butterflies in order for it to work properly. In my opinion, it will make little to no difference over a stock manifold and is way too much work then its worth. If you want a REAL upgrade, search for either or Skunk2 intake manifold or an ITR intake manifold. Both will add slightly more top end over the current B17/B16 intake manifold you are using.

Re: Intake Mani-Tech (Hybrid93Eg)
haha what hybrid said.... there is way too much fab that would have to take place to make that manifold work on ANY other bseries motor. the gsr manifold is deformed. skunk2 all the way

Where are you getting these questions from? You came in here telling us how the stock manifold didn't look "hefty" enough and what could you do to get more power. Then you ask if you could replace it with a different stock manifold. I recommeded that you upgrade to a PERFORMANCE manifold and now you question if that will make any difference over stock as well...
Just like I told you, it will show SLIGHT gains up past 6,500rpms or so depending on your mods. If they engine is otherwise stock, don't expect much. Its kind of obvious by this statement as well that the stock B16/B17 intake manifold isn't THAT much of a heap of crap. Even if it doesn't look "hefty" enough.

This, of course, is correct.
As usual, all the other people who don't know what they're talking about insist on posting blatantly wrong information. Come on people... if you don't know the correct answer STFU.
