Default installing new rotors

Im going to be installing new brembo blank rotors and was wondering if I really needed to do all the technincal things that are in their instructions. this would be using a tool to measure runout on a new rotor and just numerous little things. Isnt it as simple as removing the old one and slapping the new one on? anyone got a how to for replacing rotors? whats the break in procedure for new rotors? i am not replacing my pads yet BTW... TIA

for the most part its basic, follow the steps:

1 loosen bottom caliper bolt and remove.
2 swing caliper upwards.
3 remove pads.
4 slide caliper away from you. ( direction your faceing. i.e toward vehicle)
5 remove caliper bracket should be two 17mm or 19mm bolts.
6 remove rotor screw with impact screw driver ( may be very tight )
7 follow procedure in reverse order to install. p.s use channell locks to "crush'
the caliper piston when installing pads and or rotors.
8 MAKE SURE TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL SERVERAL TIME 5 TO 6 TIMES AFTER
YOU INSTALL THE NEW BRAKES ( ROTORS & PADS ) THIS ALLOWS THE
MASTER CYLINDER TO FLOW BRAKE FLUID TO THE CALIPERES, SO THAT
THE CALIPERS CAN PRESS THE PISTON TO SET THE PADS TO ROTORS.
*FAILURE TO DO SO CAN LEAD TO A VERY MESSY ACCIDENT

* If I was you, I would put the new pads on when you put the new rotors, if the pads still have life on them I would still go ahead and do it so that the rotors and the pads could "mate" together good. Also when you put the new pads on make sure to use a moly coat / lube on the pads backing plates, the metal side, as well lube the caliper slide. Take it easy for the first couple miles so the pads and rotor can break in. trust me. any futher question email me: wade1023@yahoo.com

everything he said was right on the money..
#8 is very important. i've seen idiots smash into neighbors' garages b/c they had forgotten to pump the brakes.

i would always recommend new pads when you install new rotors. a little bit of anti squeal on the back of the pads will help too

impact screwdrivers are very useful. you can find these at a sears craftsman store. on an older car, the two screws holding the rotor in may become seized. a little bit of PB spray and a couple of whacks with the impact driver should work... if not, just use an appropriate sized bit to drill off the head of that screw. and the rotor should come free.

when everything is done, spray the rotor down with some brake cleaner to get any leftover dirt or grease you may have left on the surface.

depending on brand and type of material, pads can go anywhere from $30-200

A couple adders on the impact screwdriver. These are personal screw-ups of my own.
Make sure you use a phillips tip that FITS the screw GOOD. I stripped a screw once and drilling it out was not fun because the tip of the driver bottoned out and didnt go into the notches all of the way.
Make sure you use a hammer not a mallet to hit the impact screwdriver. I was getting really angry cuz I was slowly destroying the screw. The mallet I guess wasint providing a sharp enough blow to break it loose. My keen friend recomended the hammer instead and it worked.
