installing clutch, have question on where to grease

Default installing clutch, have question on where to grease

installing clutch in my sohc. i been reading and one site says to grease your input shaft and throw out bearing where it contacts with the arm, well i dont know exactly where that is. also, the site says to not pack the throw out bearing with grease, can someone tell me how this is done. thanks.

Well me for one have never done this, nor do i know of anyone who has. I say just throw it all back together. i would imagine they say to do the input shaft to ease in the reassembly of the tranny to the block.

is the input shaft the shaft with the teeth/splines on it?

yea its in the tranny and thats what slides in between the clutch PP and flywheel. Its sticking out you cant miss it.

correctomundo! but dude if this is your first clutch install i suggest you invest in a haynes manual and a friend with some experience.. dont wanna fck your sh*t up

no its not my first, i did 2 others, just i always forget to grease. works fine the 1st two times but was just wanted to grease it this time.

also, do i grease the throw out bearing itself? inner circle? outter? how much?

You can throw a little grease on the inner race of the throwout bearing, but if you grease the input shaft then the inner race of the bearing will get some grease on it anyways.

I have a Haynes manual and it didn't do dick for me when I did my clutch.

You are supposed to grease the input shaft, bearing, and the ball that connects the TOB fork to the transmission.

I didn't know you wern't supposed to pack the TOB. Oh well, my buddy packed mine and we put it in. No problems as of yet.
