Input Shaft Bearing
My input shaft bearing is shot and is getting louder and i talked to a local machanic and said he would do it for like $1200 and put in new clutch that i supplied...did anyone get this fixed and how much did it run them?

That is a TOTAL RIP OFF! You could go buy 5 or 6 used trannys for that price...if your car is a 98 civic. I think that's what your screen name implies. If you don't want to/can't do it yourslef. Get a couple more shops to price the job for you....

thats what i thought man, yeah it is a 98 and ive had it for 6 months and i dont wanna drop 1200 on tranny work wen a new tranny is so much cheaper.

1200?? fugga dat. the bearing itself is like 22 from honda. a clutch kit is 100. so he's trying to get a grand out of about 400 in work.

yeah i think im just gonna buy a tranny and throw my stage one in it and save alot of $$$
