Indivdual Throttle Bodies?
I'd just like to get some opnions and feedback about ITB's. I have a 96 Hatch that I'm planning an LSVTEC with ITR pistons for, and I'm wondering if ITB's would bennefit it? Does anyone know of any manufacturers other than Toda that are producing ITB setups? Any feedback would be helpful, thanks.

Re: Indivdual Throttle Bodies? (CRX_VTEC)
How do individual throttle bodies work... I realize that they add performace, but how exactly do they do it??? I saw one setup, and it looked like it didn't even have an air filter, does each cylinder get an individual filter or what... I realize this is probably a newbie question, but I just want to better understand how this works, thanks...

its basically like a carb... and no you don't use air filters with ITBs.

why don't you.. wouldn't your engine take in a bunch of dirty air and mess something up, or is this for straight drag engines that get rebuilt often???

fuel wise, the atomization properties of carbs versus fuel injection is totally different, which is why carb vs FI wars continue to go on today. its preference. they disperse fuel wayyyy different, and the act of it getting atomized is different between them.
airfilters. oh yes people do use filters on ITBs and carbs. twm has actual filter boxes that cover all the horns/trumpets/stacks (whatever u wanna call them if you will).
ITG also makes sock type horns that go over each runners stack. each stack has its on sock kinda.
with velocity stacks, different filters can change output. just like different size stacks do as well.
filters: some people dont like to run em, some people do. on a full race engine thats gonna see fequent rebuilds, it may not be a problem, but keep in mind on the street u may deal with dirtyrings and shizzle.
do a search on the countless ITB topics.
peace

I've never seen it on Hondas but it would be very helpful to utilize a cowl hood with ITBs. Perhaps cutting out a section of the hood directly above the ITB openings would work with the cut section closest to the front of the car being raised slightly so as to act as a cowl hood. This should take full advantage of the air that gets trapped at the lower part of the windsheild directly above the rear section of the hood.
Interesting concept don't you think? It works for muscle cars why would it not work for Hondas with ITBs?
Prime examples:
Any muscle car/Hot Rod with cowl hood and carb sitting right under the hood.
454 Chevelles with adjustable cowl on rear section of stock hood.
Roush Racing induction system for '94-'95 5.0L equipped Mustangs complete with ready-to-paint cowl hood and induction opening set closer to the firewall opening directly under the cowl.
Any feedback?

For the price, it's not worth it. Unless you're using this car for racing only, I wouldn't bother. I've also read that it creates some reliability issues, but you get that with any engine built strictly for perfomance. If you want your car to remain reliable and streetable, you're better off replacing all of your internals with better parts.

I might be mistaken but thoes look like they are off a Suzuki GSXR motercycle. I heard you can use them for your car with some adaptation.

mines are done. But I havent tried them out yet. It'll take a bit of time to tune and I already know they should work fine so theres no point in trying them since whoevers car we try them on wont want to take them off after we're done.
I would use them on mine but the motors bad so theres no point in putting those on.

ITB's are sick, very unique still, but need a bit of tuning to make the most of them, plus they arent cheap unless you make them yourself using a oem Intake Mani plus some ITB's off of a motorcycle, like a few of us are trying.

I heard that they are **** when it comes to low end torque. But that is what I heard .
Without any low end, you honda would barely move on the street, which is exactly what we are trying not to do.
my $.02

A lot of guys running ITB's run them on race cars, not street cars and they will be happy enough to give up a bit of low end for much more horsepower at higher revs.
So be careful to compare apples to apples and not compare a "tuned for drag racing 10,000 rpm motor" to a "tuned for daily driving 8500 rpm street motor" even if both run ITB's they will have VERY different characteristics.
