Inconsistent Oil Dipstick Readings???
2000 Honda Civic Dx
D16y7...900 whp. woot!
I checked dipstick this morning and it read 1/4 full from the bottom dot. Dumped in about 1/4 of a bottle. Ran the car to work. I just checked it 2 minutes ago and I am now over the top dot by just a little. Where the hell did all that extra oil come from. Car has been sitting for hours now, as well as this morning before checking. The last couple of days before that, readings have been right in the middle of the two dots, which is perfect. Ive been checking consistently because I think I might have blown ring(s). On the other hand, my fuel pump is **** right now, so I think thats the lack of power. But these readings have now completely thrown off what I think the problem?
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

Your anti-drainback valve isn't working all the time.
What kind of filter are you using?
I've noticed, when I do an oil change, sometimes the oil filter is full of oil - sometimes not.
This is a common problem with horizontally mounted filters.
If you want consistency, check your oil level when your motor is warm, after it sits for a few minutes - not hours later, when it's cold.

Anti drainback valve on your oil filter. What type are you using?
I've used OEM for a long time and just this year it seems like the drainbacks on them are no longer working consistently.
