Default identify this part

This came out of a 1997 LX 4 door auto. The key was repeatedly getting stuck in the ignition. I had someone come and open up the column / ignition. They removed this part, now everything is working fine. What is it? It was located underneath the steering wheel towards the top of the column I believe. The rod went into the silver object, and the silver object was housed in the white object.

No idea what it's called, but it's on the bottom of the column. While sitting in the driver's seat, it's at the 6 o'clock position on the column, just to the left of the key hole. At least on a 5th gen Civic. It just locks the column from turning.

X2... Taking that out makes it just that much easier for your civic to disappear. I would get it replaced ASAP. Salvage yard FTW.

Thanks for the replies but does anyone know what this part is called? I was looking on hondapartsnow & ebay but couldn't figure it out.

I wish I actually knew where this was on the column.

I think it sort of looks like a piece that goes on the underside of the ignition switch, but I could be wrong.

Correct, that's where it was exactly.

Okay, well, I messed with that on my '88 CRX because I needed to replace the ignition switch harness and it was the key in reminder.

If you leave your car off, put the key in the ignition and open the door, does a buzzer go off?
