i want power steering
did the 1998 honda civc cx hatchback come with power steering? i just bought my hatch and when i drove it i noticed that it was difficult. i didn't understnad at first but when i called him, he said that he took powr steering off because it allowed for "more control". so is he telling the truth or what? i personally dont enjoy the non power steering because it forces me to manhandle the wheel especially when i have to park in a parking lot for example. how much would it cost for me to put it back on if he supposedly took it off? please help me out everyone.

Basically the powersteering pump and the lines that are attached to it, and also the belt, and all that other good stuff. BTW, have you paralled yet, it makes it more fun huh, haha.

i dont have powersteering in my del sol and i actually like it better. i feel like i have more controle. steering feels solid and response is awsome, as long as the car is moving. its takes a little while to get the super slow steering down but it isnt that bad. its saves you some weight and some HP. but its up to you.

lol i know how this guy feels. i bought my car without even test driving it. my parents did that. but i got in and damn, no power steering. i couldn't believe it. but these guys are right you don't need it. it feels way more solid at high speeds, less squirly, and the feedback is awesome! parking does suck tho.
but i've got a question. if i ever got enough money for a b16a2 swap, would i get the power steering and have to hook it up??

if u have power steering and dont want it just drain some fluids. its actually a good way to balance your likeness of powersteering. too harD? add fluid. too soft? bleed some out.
ps owns imo.

Exactly what I was going to say. I feel a lot safer without powersteering, especially on the highway. But it's all about your personal preference

I finished my swap this past weekend. I took the ps pump out and It was annoying for about 3 secs. Once I got it on the street, it handeled better and had way better response. PS is really just a joice if you're going to race or use as daily driver.

sorry man, i can't answer your question. i'm still new with all this car stuff. still learning so tell me how your swap goes if you get it before me. i wanna get a b16 too.

As far as putting ps once you do an engine swap, i personally wouldn't. When my cousin bought his car(96 dx w/ b16) that thing was fun to drive. I got a rush while flooring it. Then he went ahead and put ps on, and that thing went gay. I don't know, personally, the only downfall to not having ps is the first 5mph.Actually, not even, once it starts moving, it is easy. Start lifting weights.

Yeah, same here. When i drive other people's cars, they feel like sloppy at highway speeds. Gives you the feeling like your not in control. The only way i'll go back to power steering is if i get my hands on an M3, and that is many years from now, doesn't hurt to dream.... right?

okie, relax bro. it is all personal taste, but i have found underdriven p/s to be much faster on my racecar. but, i have no p/s in my daily driver.
