Default Turbo Del Sol Engine Blown? - Help me out

I've never blown an engine before, nor have I heard what a blown engine sounds like..

My girlfriend decided she was going to race an SE-R on the interstate last night, from some sign to a bridge or something.. who knows.. anyways she told me that she beat the car(who the hell cares? ), but when she was getting back to the speed limit she mis-shifted from 5th to 2nd....

Now when she got back everything sounded fine, I had her rev it and

*CLACK CLACK CLACK* <-- insert real engine sound... (knock maybe?)

Anyways... I got in and revved it.. At about 2,500rpms it starts to knock... It only happens in first and second gear...

Is the d16z6 gone? If so, where can I find one cheap? I need a replacment ASAP

I bet you its a spun rod bearing, D16's love to do this.

Edit: Check your oil level, if its low I would put my chips on rod bearing.

oil level is actually un-changed... Im not sure what happend.. im gonna try and get a sound clip of it revving to let you hear the noise... it sucks..

Anyways.. moving to B isn't necessarily stepping up when Im turbod...

Personal Preference... SOHC Turbo

my friend did the same thing, he has in 3rd(about 80mph) and threw into second and his car just shut off and the motor was gone to *****, took the head off and the pistons and valves were all fucked up so he dropped a b series in his hatch. blowing a motor is a good reason to swap motors for something better so dont be mad be glad

What if you put a turbo on a B series?

More power, better platform.

Your talking like I have deep pockets.. I bought the car turbo'd .. I have fun with it.. Im not looking to impress everyone else,

And as I said before.. Its a personal preference.

Plus I am only out about $350 if this thing is blown... With a boosted b im out about $4500 or more..

I work at Mrs. Winners as a Cook and Im a college student..

Might be a spun rod bearing, collapsed lifter, or something inside the vavle train. Take of the valve cover and see how the valves are doing. Try to readjust the valve lash.

This is why I would never let my girfriend DRIVE my car, let alone RACE it. I would be pissed if I were you man. How the hell do you go from 5th to 2nd and then have the abscence of mind to completely let the clutch out Anyways, I would pick up a new d16, you don't even need a full swap, you could a low mileage, good condtion bare block for like 250-400.

I let her drive it because I trusted she was not that DUMB.. but.. I was proved wrong.. anyways.. I had no clue she would try and race someone..

I think darklown is giving me an engine.. so hopefully I can get going very soon...

I haven't been able to get it pulled and taken apart yet.. Im an idiot when it comes to the inside of an engine, I will probably post pics and ask whats happened.. In the mean time, I want to get this new engine on a stand and check it out.. He said all it needed was a waterpump.. I hope so!!!

Ohh.. Did i mention that this engine also had a tranny attached? All it really needs is a waterpump, new timing belt, dizzy, and wiring from the outside..

So until I can open it up... it looks complete and dirty

anyone know a good place to buy rebuild kits for the z6? Also, if not, what all should I order from the parts store before I get to work on this.

Current List:

Timing Belt
Water Pump
All Belts
Head Gasket Set (where should I order this? - Average Price?)

What Else?

Also, If it only spun a rod bearing, could I just replace all the bearings in my current engine and use it as well?

if it were, would it still run and drive with just the noise over certain RPMs?

I have driven it to work and to my brothers house like it is.. just makes noise between 2,500 and 3,000rpms
