What year?

Remove taillight fuse and use a multimeter to test for loss of continuity between the two terminals.

If I understand you correctly, the tail light fuse is located under the steering wheel in the fuse block. There is a diagram underneath the lid. Pull out the corresponding fuse. Observe the fuse, if it is blown, the metal inside the fuse is no longer connected and sometimes the fuse is a blackish color. Replace with a new fuse of the equal rating only.

Your local automotive parts store should check it for free,
I know Autozone and O'reilys check all fuses for no charge.

Yes it is lazy but, this guy is asking how do you know. So he probably dont
even know were the fuse is, or maybe he doesnt even know where the fuse boxes are.

If he doesnt know where the fuse is located, he probably doesnt know how to check etc etc.

So easiest possible solution (for him) , local automotive store.

Okay, I work at Autozone and it's a pain in the *** when someone comes in and figures we can figure out their fuse or wiring issue on the spot.

Autozone does not have the fuse diagrams for your car.

Autozone does not necessarily know where the fuse boxes for your car is. They have to get in there and look just like you do.

Autozone employees don't have access to the internet or any special manuals that would tell us anything that you don't already have in your car (the Haynes manuals in the store and the computers they have there - ZNet - tell you nothing about fuses besides the books tell you how to tell if a fuse is bad). Your owner's manual (and the net) can tell you how to check your fuse, plus some manuals have diagrams for some cars (most cars have a key on the fuse cover/door).

Instead of going to Autozone and hoping you can get your EASY (with the internet) problem solved, just figure it out yourself.

There are fuse diagrams linked in the FAQ thread at the top of this section. I know because I made them so people would have an immediate resource.

I know they're not finished, but I'll eventually get to it. I'm doing this out of the goodness of my heart. It won't really help me directly.

(There are other diagrams online too.)

This was not directed at the person who made this thread, so please don't take it the wrong way.

Now I know what I'm doing next time I go to Autozone.

But seriously, check the diagram and see if the fuse for that part has the metal piece inside broken. The diagram should even be on the inside of the fuse box cover.

Btw, Autozone does not have a policy that the employees must help you with your fuses, so don't be surprised if they up and say no or they give up easily.

Autozone employees aren't there to work on cars.

Here is the thread I mentioned before. Going to Autozone will only make it harder on everyone.

I pretty much gave step by step directions on how to diagnose the fuse. Condemn the fuse or the next step is to check the bulbs to see if they are blown or not.
