I'm looking for a good tire for the new setup, i probably wont see any auto-x anytime soon, so its going to be mostly for street, and slightly for drag, i need good traction off the line. but i want a tire that will last me longer than 2 trips down to the drag strip. and keep in mind daily driving will be a huge part of the life of these tires. the drag racing will be what kills them

if you could give me a quick rundown of the following tires, i'd appreciate it, you dont have to do all the options, just 1 if you want. i read up on the tires, but i want to know what people think about them also.

BFG drag radial
Nitto 555R
Yokohama Parada spec 2
Falken Azenis Sport
Bridgestone Potenza S0-3
and any other tire that would be good for a "quick" civic

if you're gonna be doing a fair amount of drag racing AND daily driving, i'd reccomend getting an extra pair of rims and mounting drag radials on them... there's no point to have them on all the time. also, it just isnt safe to drive in the rain with them

If you have only one set of wheels, then either the kuhmo mx or the falken azenis sport tires.

I've been running yoko's pararda spec 2s for about a year , and they are a great tire for rain/dry weather. They have nice sidewalls to protect four rims and handle awesome on turns (very sticky). I will be buying another set next time I buy tires.... well worth the loot

I've had the Azenis sports, and they were HORRIBLE in the snow. Rain wasn't that bad, but snow...dear god. I will never try that a second time. Plus they don't last very long and are NOISY as ****. I'll probally end up with another set because they are cheap and sticky as hell though.

you might want to take a look at yokohomas AVS 100, my friend has them on his 240 and there great. he had the for about 6 months now and they still look good.

Damn, a year for a set of tires? and still drivin on them? damn i wish i could do that.. tires last me the most, 3 months..i just cant help from doin burnouts all tha time...so i just stick wit the falken azenis..i get them cheap as hell and there pretty good...i wouldnt kno about tha snow though..my car was stolen 2 days before tha first snowstorm of tha year...

I would go with the es100 over these. No further comment.

Falken Azenis Sport
Dry grip is superb, especially for the price. Adequate in the rain, but the s-03
is far superior in this department. Noisy. Stiff sidewall. Heavy. Wears really
fast, but cheap to replace.

Bridgestone Potenza S0-3 -
Best all around tire in your list, but also expensive. Doesn't grip as well as the
azenis in the dry, but more than makes up for it in the wet. Stiff Sidewall. Heavy.
Wears fast. Expensive.

Other tires to look into for spirited daily driving.

Bridgestone RE750
Yokohama ES100
Dunlop Sport 8000

i had so-3's on my jetta and they were the BEST tires i ever had i never ran them on the track though, I plan on gettin thrm for my gsr soon

I've only had experience with the falken azenis sports, for your purpose I would NOT recomend them. I love the tires but they are not for drag or long tread life. they have an extremely stiff side wall. the traction is great for auto x and stuff like that but these tires are not for you.

i run michelin x all seasons. i had them on my old accord, and decided to replace my horrible stock firestones with these on my civic. great dry/wet/snow traction. no complaints and they last me forever. i know they're not performance tires, but for great all around daily drivers, i love these.

Your needs are very similar to what I need out of a tire. I needed a tire to handle a lot of regular driving but would also work at the track and such for a few trips.

I've had Kumho 711's and they were ok, very inexpensive, great in rain and such.

Kumho 712's were about the same, a little more money. Ran them at the track a couple times and had the same traction results. Never really pushed them to their limit.

Got Yokohama AVS ES100's now. They seem to be a little better tire. Nothing super over the Kumho's but a noticeable difference. Biggest thing is when just driving around town and trying to take off from a stop the tires spin a little but you go where they are pointed. The kumho's would hop and skip a little and be a pain.

So far I'm happy with the Yoko's. Only had them for 2 weeks though.

see, this is just why i made this thread.

i searched, and got a lot of mixed answers. i found a thread asking for a good street/drag tire. i saw a lot of people telling them to go for azenis.

in other threads i just got a bunch of misinformation, and i just got confused.


From my own understanding: Falken azenis//parada spec 2 are good sticky track tires with stiff sidewalls, and similar tread patterns. although sticky, not good for drag racing at all.

opinions? factS? anyone?

I have the Kumho Ecta MX on my civic, and they work great in dry and wet conditions. NOT GOOD IN THE SNOW!!!

I am not a fan of the S-03s at all (and I sell them). If you're looking for a decent all season tire I'd recommend the Yoko's above or the Dunlop Sport A-2. I had a set of the dunlops on my civic and they were great in the dry, and even better in the snow.

Toyo Proxes FZ4, pretty decent all round performance. Great value for the dollar.

Best set of tires I ever had were Dunlop Sport 9000. I swear they were so good in the rain that you didn't even feel like you were driving through water. Dry traction was even better. Wore out kinda fast, but weren't too expensive either.

I had kuhmo ecsta supras next...a lot of people don't like them but I had no complaints (i wasn't autoxin' or drag racing keep in mind) with them for normal driving. And for under 70 a tire, you can't beat that.
