Default I NEED HELP ON MY 94 CIVIC HATCH WITH THE MOTOR SWAP!

I do body work, and I got the shell to a 94 Civic Hatch. I shaved the door handles, and the body side moulding and I am still blocking it out and working on the body. I want to do the motor swap, and I am getting a LS motor with nothing done to it out of an wrecked integra in a junk yard, but I want to switch the head on it, like what head should I go with, B16? GSR? It will be a street car for everyday driving that has some *****, so what should I go with and where can I find it?

A B16 head will net you more compression. If you want a daily car with lots of *****, get a b20z (97+ cr-v) bottom end, a b16 head, and whatever tranny you prefer (b16 with short gears, ls with long gears, gsr between them). My thought is that if you're going to do LS-VTEC, but don't already have an LS, its worth it to pay a bit more for the 2.0L bottom. They're virtually identical, just 84mm pistons vs 81mm. Chances are you'll pay just as much for the 2.0 as you would the complete LS swap. If you got a complete LS swap you'd have an ecu and head left over you can't use and can't sell very fast (esp since you can't access the classifieds).

Turbo the LS. More money but better suited. Ive been weighing the same decission, savin up this summer for a turbonetics kit. More power and less issues. my friend had LS vtec and had all sorts off issues.

If you search here on HT there are a few posts explaining the rod ratio porblem in terms of RPM and other things. Plus 170hp over 220hp??

Just my 2 cents

If you're planning on making it your daily driver, just go with a complete B16 change over. Sure, it might not have as much torque as you'd like it to have, but it's probably one of the most common and trusted, reliable change overs. Affordable, cheap, and a drastic improvement.

If you're looking for a little more "*****", just get intake, header, exhaust, and have an LSD tranny. I think you'll love it.
