Default I just aquired a 99 civic si shell, How hard to drop in a y8 swap?

I just got a 99 civic si shell from a buddy, and have a 99 y8 swap laying around. Would this be a straight forward swap? i figure i'd use this swap for now. Things i bought for the swap already are 99 si wiring harness, ex mounts, ex ecu.

was this necessary? the guy got a civic shell, and needs something to put in there so he can drive it...the fact that it is an si shell doesnt really matter.

anyways to the op: the y8 came in 96-00 ex civics, so it should be pretty straight forward. but someone else may have a more informative answer for you.

yeah ud need the dseries mounts, but event hen i dont know exactly if the mounting points are the same, since teh si came with a b-series motor. if i were you i would just wait for a bseries motor and not waste time tryna put a y8 in there, could be more trouble then its worth.

its not any trouble.. direct bolt in .. only mounts that are different are the rear "T" bracket, front TQ mounts and timing belt block mount.. which all you do is just use the sohc mounts that the y8 has.. boom direct bolt in

id prolly take the dohc and the si emblems off for the time being. theres a guy perpetrating like that around here on a hx civic, and gets clowned everywhere he goes. but i do understand your need for a car that actually moves and is usefull. good luck with you swap.

HAHA. I saw an EX at my school parking lot with the stickers AND the rear badge. I had to do a double take. Definitely wasn't from Canada either.

Anyways, I see nothing wrong with making a useless car into a useful one. GL with the Y8.

I'd say I know who you're talking about, but I'm in Jacksonville.

To the OP: Bolts right in with the above said mounts. It runs, and you can always save up for a better motor.

WTF why would he get a d15b when he's already got a spare y8?

GL with the swap, it should be a slice of pie.

the intake manifold on the y8 is the best stock then a little d15b.the y8 is 1.6L sohc vtec.Way better then a d15b.gl on the install.

there will be no wiring involved in what he wants to do if he has the y8 harness
