No a DC harness will not fit. You need a 96-00 civic harness. Preferrably a 99-00 Si harness to make everything much more simple. Your second choice would be a 96-00 EX harness. They require different mods depending on if you go with the 96-98 or 99-00. The distributor plug is different on the 99-00 EX. It is unique to 99-00 EX/HX models.

The SI uses the big distributor plug like the OBD1 harnesses and 96-98EX or 99-00 non EX harnesses.

The 99-00 EX (and im pretty sure the HX too) use a small distributor plug. They are the only ones to use that plug.

Any other 96-00 harness, and you have to mod it a little. The EK harness does not largely seperate at the firewall. It is almost all one peice from the engine to the ECU. The DC/EG/EF harness is strictly 2 peices. Engine and Interior/ECU.

You need a 96-00 CIVIC harness.

The DC linkage should work.

ok then just wanted to make sure because i had one put didnt see the ends to the ecu so i was wondering if it fit or not..........the distributor the engine has now is a big plug so if i get a 99-00 ex harness i have to change it to a big plug i can do tht right and how???
so i have to get a non ex harness so it could be more simple like a dx harness

the DX harness requires mods too. But it's easy either way.

I'm not sure....you'll have to search for a wiring interchange. I think all the colors are the same, though.

You cannot use a DC harness. If you do, it will be harder than just modding even a 96-00 civic DX harness. Forget about the integra harness.

You'd have to pull the integra harness apart from the dash harness. Then ghetto it into your EM1...and redo all the missing connections. That's the definition of counterproductive...plus it would look like ****.

Cross the integra harness off your list.

Get some form of 96-00 CIVIC harness. Preferrably a 99-00 Si harness. Dont ghetto your wiring or a small problem will be impossible to find and drive you INSANE.

uh no, lots of missinformation in this post!!!! I bolded your errors

first of all, he needs a 99-00 harness period!!!! Si harness makes life easier!!!!

96-98 harness is completely different!!! just as pointless as trying to use an Integra harness!!!!!

all 99-00 harnesses cx,dx,lx,ex,hx have a tiny dizzy plug except 99-00 SI

all obd1 dizzys have two small plugs not one big one like a 96-98 Civic 96-01 Integra or 99-00 Si

Wrong. I had a 99 DX. It had the larger plug.

How is the 96-98 harness different? All the firewall plugs match up. He can just use a OBD2A to OBD1 conversion instead of using an OBD2B to OBD1 conversion.

The OBD1 distributors use ONE big plug, and one small plug with 2 wires on it. The OBD2 cars (not the 99-00 EX) have ONE big plug of the same shape with the 2 wires consolidated into the previously empty spaces. The OBD1 distributor plug plugs right into an large OBD2 plug. Then you make an auxillary 2 wire harness or just get some pins and pin the 2 wires into the big plug.

Hmm...maybe i've done it before....

So this means if i want to find a harness that fits without modifying i should use a 99-00 dx model harness.....The problem is why i dont want to get a 99-00 si harness is because there too expensive since im swappin in a non vtec engine i dont need the vtec wires. I was also thinking of goin to my local junkyard to buy one and everyone knows a 99-00 si are never found there. So i should get a 99-00 dx harness or what should i do???

The 99 DX harness would be easy to mod. You have to stretch/replug the intake manifold wiring. Since you're running a non VTEC motor with no knock sensor (do B20s have a knock sensor?), that's the only modding you need to do to the harness.

What ECU are you using again?

It's not difficult. The 96-00 harness comes completely out of the car almost. So you just mod the harness while it's out of the car...it's really nice. The mods really aren't too bad. I've done it twice.

Thats cute how you bolded my whole post you must have been trying to get all the stuff that was correct and make it stand out more.

However you need to do your home work next time you try to state things you're not sure about.

Now once and for all. 96-01 Integras, 96-98 Civics, and 99-00 Civic Si's were the only B/D series engines that had the large obd2 distributor plug.

All 99-00 Civics (except the Si) had a small distributor plug (search and learn if you don't believe me I don't need to prove myself)

A 96-98 harness will not work in any 99-00 Civic period!!! There are three ecu plugs that come through the firewall on a 96-98 harness. However on a 99-00 only two plugs come through the firewall and the third ecu plug is part of the dash harness (again search and learn if you don't believe me)

And why did you even bring up obd1 distributors in the first place? But since you did here is where I think you got confused. The larger of the two plugs on an obd1 distributor will plug into a 99-00 Civic Cx/Dx/Lx/Hx/Ex which have the single small obd2 plug. You would then be left with the other smaller obd1 plug with the two larger wires.

Having said all this I have owned and worked on more 92-95,96-98,99-00 Civics and 94-01 Integras then I can even remember and I do it every day. So ya maybe I'm giving him this information because I've done it more then once.

Correctomundo^^^^

96-98 cx, dx and 99-00 si

99-00 cx, dx, ect..

You need a 99-00 civic si harness
Or else you will have alot of headaches. The 96-98 harnesses are obd2a and the 99-00 civics are obd2b. You need and obd2b. Also if you get a single cam harness you will need to modify the iacv plug and extend some wires.
Your best bet is a 99-00 civic si harness its worth the extra cost.
And btw the b20 is totally underrated. I had a 98 jdm b20b. It also had a knock sensor. I had it in a 98 cx hatch with a b16 transmission and bolt ons it went 14.3 with street tires...

so then i should use a 99-00 si harness then. ok then it will cost me more but its worth it more than the headaches. Yeah i have a 98 jdm b20b with a gsr tranny though and its goin in a coupe just for a couple months till i go b20vtec. But i hope il be beating sum guys or keepin up with some vtec engines.

Quick Reply: i have a question about a b20b i wanna buy and swap into my em1
