I got rearended
Ok, for those of you that don't know, I just finished my b18c1 swap into my 94 CX a few days ago! I've been saving for this for almost a year now and finally finished. I was so freaking happy. I had a CX with an amazing body (flawless) and a powerful torquey motor.
1st incident - Happened last night during that horrible storm down here. A tree fell on the car parked next to mine while I was at work. It CRUSHED his car, and dented my fender/busted my corner lamp. ****! My lights lined up PERFECTLY! Not anymore
2nd incident - Cruising to Peachtree City to see if anyone is out. I slow down for the yellow light and I prepare to stop (Cops everywhere in PTC, dont want to risk it) and some huge TRD Tacoma plows into my rear end. I get out and my car is fucked! It's still totally drivable, but the rear bumper is ruined, the driver's side quarter panel is pushed in, the roof is dented, the hatch door is fucked, the line above the passengers side door is fucked. DAMNIT!
Hopefully Progressive Insurance will total out my car and give me a decent amount of $$ and let me keep my motor! ****!

The mirror missing and the fender are from the tree accident. The roof and the piece of metal that lines the top of the door are dented from the rear collision. That tells me that the entire uni-body is squished towards the front.

Take the motor out and put something back in it (Anything). They will make you buy the car back to get the motor out.

My CX motor is blown the **** up!
I don't mind buying the car back because I already have tons of people who want to buy the shell/dash/etc.....

Nothing to be sorry about dude. I've personally only heard good things about Progressive. I will hopefully be able to find another CX (stock, preferable Phantom Gray and a 92 model).

Doesn't matter if the motor is blown. Car doesn't have to run. If they total it out. You don't have to explain why the motor isn't running. It doesn't even need a tranny.

Good stuff. They'll give you decent money but don't tell them about the motor, yank the Geeser out, stuff the CX back in (As long as its bolted in they won't trip) and take the money get back and find your phantom grey CX.

damn dood, guess its no ones good week lately.. my car just got totalled cuz i got rear ended by drunkies.. they let me keep the car like they didnt even bother trying to take it .. and the other people had proggresive so i think you might just keep it.

The good thing and bad thing about CiViC's is they are small and don't offer much protection in a crash, so Honda designs them to fold up like a soda can when they're hit. The important part is the passenger compartment. It's pretty rigid, but the rest of the car is supposed to compress like an accordian. By design, it doesn't take much impact to 'total' a Honda, so you will probably get your wish...

I just went through the same thing. I bought a junk crx motor and stuffed in mine. The insurance does not care as long as the car is complete. I ended up having to buy mine back for $550. Since yours is a CX, I wouldnt pay anymore than that.

So they just let you KEEP IT. WTF! That is tight. The adjuster is coming tomorrow to look at it.
One question for those that have dealt with this. Is there just a set price they give you for a particular car? The reason I ask is because I have no interior. I didn't know if this would decrease the value of my car. Thanks, I need to know ASAP.
