i got $5000, what engine to swap or build???
its that time and i want to know all your opinions and options out there. i want the best bang for the buck and i will be using it as a daily driver while i take it to the track and strip on occation. my goal is 12's all day.

I've always like the thought of H22s in sixth gens. Cheap ($2500 +) and powerful (200 hp). With whatever leftover money you have after buying the motor (around $2500), you should be able to net low 13's, possibly high 12's. This would be the easiest and most reliable route IMO. I personally don't like dealing with all the hassles involved with crvtecs and lsvtecs, but to each his own.

b18c1. ITR head. ITR tranny. CTR cams.
You will be happy.
I know you're thinking, you don't have enough for all that stuff. If you sell the head off your GSR and sell your tranny, you'll only be spending like $1000 or so on Type R parts.

$4300 for a B18C or C5 swap. DIY and get a lightened flywheel/good clutch DIY again.
OR.
$3300 for a B18C1. DIY. build the block with P30 oversized pistons, skunk2 manifold, skunk2 cams...
not 12's but it would be close enough for me.

those are both good options. i was thinking b18c specR and build a little. thats alot of money for an engine though. im sure it will be worth it.

well if you are gonna build, i say get a B18C1. its cheaper and you get more bang for the buck.

yeah, your right. i was only thinking type-r over gsr because if i give the gsr some itr rods, pistons, and tranny, it will be more than an itr, plus the itr has that kick-*** headwork.

i wanted turbo for a while. turbo gsr in a hatch, oh baby. i love vtec too. thats the toughest desition in the world.

so many different choices. if i found an itr for under 5000 i would get it. i also found a b16 sir long block, just head and block, for $400. do you think i should work with this? change the block or turbo?

h22a will never be a very reliable swap....it takes a lot of fabrication for a h22a to run properly in a hatch, it also provides tons of understeer, i would do a b18c or a jspec b16

Understeer isn't a real issue unless you're planning on autocrossing the damn thing and it's not that bad for daily driving. How is the swap not reliable? Take it to a reputable shop to help you out and you should be fine with the right mounts.

well one thing that is very inportant is that , is hitting 12's on a daily driving a most ?? or you would settle with 13's !
and if you are considering 12's then IMO go with the gsr b18c1 enjoy it ! and then get ready to do a turbo on there .
and you will have no problems .
with all motor you are capable by having the gsr fully built to run agressive cams , high CR pistons and port & polish .intead of just to settle with the spec R motor spending all the $$ at ones and then changing things on there !

don't do the h22. too much of a hassel and too many problems. for turbo do a B18B. if you turbo a vtec motor, the vtec is going to work. it shuts off with turbo. but you'll still get a lot of power. i went to WW3 at SIR, in Seattle, and there was a black integra, GSR, with turbo and nitrous. i don't know any other mods he had, but he ran 10.1 on the 1/4. i'm making the same decision as you right now. i'm going between b18b w/ turbo or all motor b18c j-spec.

Hm I dont see the hassle in a H22. Just buy the mounts (from like Hasports) and drop it in. A nice 2.2L.
Or B18b + boost.

don't get a shitty R motor unless you are going all motor, i still say LS Turbo but if you want all motor than i suggest i dunno turbo for hondas is the ****, especially in hatch ....
I will be running mid 13's all day on my stock-internals B18C5 in my CX hatch. It already powered my heavy-*** 1992 Si hatch into 13.9@100mph on my first time to the strip with it
I say B18C1 is still a kick-*** choice though. I also agree with getting a Type R tranny and Skunk2 manifold and a good ECU and at least a CTR intake cam. It would run as good or better than a B18C5 and cost less if you do your homework

Go for a B18C or B20B/Z, and both are good for turbo if you want to add it later.
