I can't start my car!!! Please help!!!
Alright, here's my problem. I can't start my car!!!
I turn the key to the first notch, and the radio turns on like it's supposed to. Then, when I try to turn the key all the way, a super-fast clicking noise happens near my passenger area. Kinda like a rapid-fire gun noise.
What do I need to do to make my car start?
H-T, please help a brother out!
Thanks in advance homies!

Is the noise under the hood, bad battery, or under the dash, bad battery, get a jump then go get a battery and check the alternator also.

It can't be my battery, because I just bought it brand new 2 months ago. Plus, my radio and lights work. I have tried jump starting it, and no luck.

It's a manual. I have push started it in the past, but I don't want to rely on that. I just want to fix the issue.

if your stater is clicking then it is not getting enough power the crank your motor over. Either your new battery is a dud or you may have drained it by leaving your lights on or something.

If my new battery is a dud, wouldn't my lights/radio no be working?

Do you not understand that it only takes X amount of amperage to turn a silly light on and it takes hundreds of amps to make a starter work.
OK, battery not too old, remove and clean the positive battery cable to the starter and run a redundant ground to the engine and chassis.
Key to start, one click, bad starter and / or solenoid, multiple clicks is weak battery or large voltage drop in the wiring to the starter, jump start did not help, OK, CHECK WIRING AND CLEAN AND ADD EXTRA WIRING. FWIW

Re: (Duane_in_Japan)
my car did that. problem? battery. the car sat in the backyard for a week while i was on vacation, never had any starting problems whatsoever. come back, and the bitch was completely dead. did the rapid-fire clicking. new battery, fired right up.
new battery ftw. at least borrow one off someone else and see if it works, then you can rule it out if thats not it.
radio and lights only use up like .2 volts off the battery, and when they turn off that voltage returns to the battery. heater's/ac suck batteries DRY though. i've messed around with my turbo timer that also has a voltage meter. with the heater on and the car off **** drops like 1v per 10 seconds. and only half of it returns to the battery.

Re: (B16Buscarlo)
i had this same exact problem with my 98 ek hatch. main relay went fruckin nuts when you'd turn the key to "ignition"...turn to "on"...and nothing...I went and took off all my grounds, scraped and cleaned the surfaces under them. hooked them back up, found one bad ground, and started right up, and has perfectly, ever since....didn't drive my car for a week over that malarky. i'd try that, and if that does you no good, i would definitely try for the new/or different battery.
